Nope

But he hasn't re signed and has hinted that he's open to a move to a bigger club.

So we are where we are till then. I'm sure LW is a position well be looking to strengthen anyway and should be if he's not willing to commit for another year at this stage.

Andre again

Looks like Bayern have put in another ridiculous low ball bid. Really hope that we are telling them and Joao that if they don't pay what we want by the end of June it's not happening. This can't drag in all summer. Totally sick of it already.

As with most on here, the Palhinha thing worries me. I understand that his level is a champions league team. I understand he probably wants to go, and I respect his loyalty last season after the transfer fell through. From a business standpoint, we need to get a good price for him. The replacements we have been linked with won't come cheap, and there is zero guarantee that they will be effective. My worry is that if we sell him, we will burn most of the fee on a lesser player(s) that never fill his shoes. Our recent past has me worried. While they weren't useless, Seri and Anguissa did not work out for us and that really cost us. I do think Marco is pretty effective at bringing in new talent.

I have faith. Our business has been ridiculously good the last few years. Not sure who that's down to and don't really care...key is we've been getting it right.

We can't replace his tackling output but sure we will change up and have two that sit a bit more. We were successful just with Reed and Lukic this year.

Andre really isn't the same kind of player but could work very well with Lukic. Luis/Souza are far more similar and would be better direct replacements. All have huge potential. I'd love André and one of the others (ideally Luis) but guessing we'll only go for one. If Andre will just have to change the way we play.
Reed and lukic will compensate against most teams top couple aside it's
Back up at the same level back up more importantly covering injuries ,more importantly motivation to be at there best level on the pitch.
Quote from: hovewhite on June 12, 2024, 10:03:30 PMReed and Lukic = relegation. Neither should be starters for us.

I saw somewhere that no agreement on a contract renewal so, likely he will go.

Why haven't we signed anyone yet?!?!? Pull  your finger out Tony and give Marco the backing he deserves.

Just thought I'd get it in early doors.

Still not sure if key players like Palhinha and Robinson are leaving or not so I guess we need that situation sorted before we spend big on new signings.

It was just a jest of course. Reckon we will be spending big with no departures this year however and even bigger assuming Joao goes. Wouldn't be surprised if not until after the 30th of June however for the new financial year when our FFP limits should go up significantly with the championship year gone. If we do spend before then all the talk of us having no funds Jan just gone must have been false but guessing we are tight up to 30th June so do t expect anything before July.

I'd be suprised if Joao was with us come the end of the window. Somewhat pleasantly so IF we've suddenly built a super promising team around him. But would think it unlikely and I'd be concerned about whether 2 years in a row missing out on his dream move might beat the enthusiasm out of even a professional guy.

I would guess anywhere close to 50m gets the deal done at this stage but regardless we still need the players we need. Although I've no idea what sort of knock on effect a 50m windfall would make to our transfer plans this year, wether it would allow us to look even higher up the list of wanted players in other positions.

ESR being quoted at 40m is complete madness and utter nonsense from arsenal who surely are just trying to drive someone to pay closer to 30m. One of those I expect will suddenly be available for considerably less come the end of the window on some sort of loan to buy deal.

Is the money we received for Mitro burning a hole in the transfer kitty bag or has that been transfered to other funds.

I think Hummels a bit too old at 35 even on a free, we have Ream already at 36.

But glad to see him rule out Saudi, good on him

St Eve

If the transfer window opens today how come a lot of transfers have already been completed?

Clubs can still make deals before the transfer window opens, its just that the player will join officially once the window opens

No chance Bayern is giving up on Joao now. They know the price, this is just a haggling process until they finally reach the price we want. Theyve clearly made him their no 1 priority.

All over twitter, apparently Fulham have told Bayern they won't except less than the fee agreed last year which was 58m Euros + 9m add Ons.

£48m + 7.5m in. Add ons

Wonder if only appearance based or contingent on winning trophies.

Either way 48 alone would be very good and £55.5m would be a seriously brilliant result all round if we're gonna let him go

There is a lot of crap on there but also a lot of breaking news, just have to try and separate it.

Too right. I thought for how important he is to us and how brilliant he is that was way too low last year. We are in a better position now and he's a year older so would feel better about that amount now but no less so let's hope we stick to it and give them a definitive deadline to pay the F up!! We are in the same position as last year with contract as extended for a year and we are paying him more than double what we were paying him last year. He didn't have to sign that contract extension and if he hadn't it would be less but he can't expect us to accept less when he did. He is only a year older not frigging 3 or 4 years older and is still our best player by a mile so pay up or move on.
