These journalists have no idea what's going on.  Hence a million different stories.

Actually Pete Rutzler is ITK with the club. He's our dedicated reporter from the Athletic and he 100% has contacts inside the club because he's broke transfer stories before anyone else about deals that have then happened. He also doesn't tweet idle gossip until he's got it verified

Really, can you name one single transfer that Rutzler broke ,
I'm intrigued because he normally is one of the last to know,
And I certainly wouldn't regard him as I.T.K as you have.

Adama Traore.

He's never been the last to know anything about the club, he just doesn't post unless he knows things for a fact.

Quote from: Angus Telford on July 19, 2024, 10:45:33 PMGiving TK credit for Tobido and Zirkee is a bit generous, surely it shows how silly we were not to cough up the asking price for those players. If Brentford come along and sign Andre for £30m because we're still making silly others around £20m, and he then has a fantastic season for them, that would reflect poorly on us rather than positively.

The comment was explicitly, and clearly about a negative statement about the clubs scouting ability (or lack there of) and wether it was capable of identifying young or cheap talent.

Nothing to do with negotiation matters beyond that or what offers the players received and where they decided to move.

In fact, I literally said in the message "say what you want about negotiations" but that the issue is not  the stats/scouting teams/TK struggling to identify good players.

Quote from: Coast94 on July 19, 2024, 10:58:58 AMSo 1 month until the season. 0 signings. Us and Liverpool are the only teams in the league yet to sign anyone. Same old, same old.

If we could get Andre and ESR over the line soon, that'd be grand!

Surely we must have a 16 year old they wanna steal!

Just maybe sorting out personal details before making another offer, who knows

Might be true. Having personal terms agreed does clarify if the transfee fee will fit in the budget. Feel like the purported weekend medical could still be on.

Peter Rutzler is about as reliable as journos come when it comes to Fulham. As others have said, known ITK from a reputable employer with a track record of getting things right.

Todibo didn't want to come IIRC. The fee and wages weren't an issue.

Didn't Todibo snub us?

We tried to switch it to a loan at the last minute, but Barcelona wanted a sale.

If the sporting press accounts are to be believed.

The issue was that Todibo didn't want to sign for a newly promoted side that would be likely to get relegated again.

Also somewhat ironically, for your argument, he was loaned to Schalke with a clause the season before, he was loaned with a clause to Benfica the season we tried to sign him, he was loaned with a clause to Nice the season after (they activated it) and he is seemingly being loaned with a clause to West Ham.

Except he went on loan to Benfica that window.

If true that arteta wants to keep him and not just a tactic, seems like it really will run up the price seeing as the player seems happy to fight for a first team place there too.

A shame, but the gamble certainly grows the higher the expense. Id be suprised of we pushed to 40m including addons. Really Inflated market with all the insane money for even very raw young players less experienced than esr at british clubs this window.

Deuce

Good to see that we are actually in for McTominay still. Think his physicality and height alongside Andrés technical ability will fit well togheter. Neither are to be seen as replacement for Palhinha. Pretty similar to how West Ham went about replacing Rice.

If Pereira leaves and we get ESR, then that forms a great midfield 3 and massively impacts the age structure in our starting XI and squad as a whole. Its a heavy investment but one that will (hopefully) bare fruit for a number of years to come.

Ah well another week gone and..............nothing.  I get how complicated the transfer market can be and I don't want to see us paying silly money just to secure a quick deal. However we are well into the window now and in an ideal world it would have been nice to see one or two new signings in for the start of training. Sigh.

Summed up perfectly. Need to stretch the money as far as we can with these deals but so frustrating to not see at least one of the 3 key positions filled yet. Sigh indeed.

Concerned that we are not being linked with a centre forward. Jury still out on Muniz, stansfield yet to cut it at this level (possibly not orthodox striker) and Jiminez probably coming to the end of his days in top flight football.
A pacey number 9 is critical ...
Also will be gutted if pereira leaves. One of the few on this board who really appreciates what he brings to our team and extremely hard to replace is pressing, movement , dead ball qualities and brilliant interplay. We needed to be replacing lukic and Reed ...

Agree, but I think a new striker is probably a bit further down the shortlist. Looks like we have been busy sealing the André deal and bidding for McT and ESR. Im guessing there are just so many dealings you can do simultaneously

We'll get TOney for 20M at the end of the window, no one seems to want him

I'd like a new striker but just can't see that we will be doing it this summer. Trying to buy big on 5 positions aside from striker which from fees being banded about is prob going to cost around £120m. Although we should have a lot of FFP room not enough to then go and but a striker on top that improves us. We do have 3 very decent options. I believe Raul has one year left with a year option. If we fill the positions we are looking at this year I wouldn't be surprised if we let Raul go next year removing his big salary and then going big on a striker to compete with Muniz and Stansfield (unless both absolutely fly this year).

I too think AP doesn't get enough credit for what he does well because of failings to score more, wasteful passes/shots, etc. Stats wise he is right up there for chances created from both open play and set pieces, key passes and assists on top of defensive work. Think we'll realise how much we miss him when he's gone. Got to say however that if Chelsea come with £35 to £40 million we probably have to sell at his age and with the limitations he does have in a few areas. Feel far more comfortable doing that if we already had 3 of the other main positions filled however!!

Three Clubs and none of them signed him. I wonder why?
Whose this Clause guy that went with him. Is he any good?
