Quote from: Thames Bank 1 on July 27, 2024, 11:38:12 AMYou area bit of a T**T aren't you, a right happy so and so

Some absolute misery-gogs on ere sometimes honestly :slap: . Turning a heartwarming positive news story into an opportunity to moan about something so asinine, being called out and turning to digs about my personal working situation, which was relevant to the topic and stated purely in relation to the context of this specific situation.

Nothing new

Lol. Kids stuff. Cute though. You were part of the misery and brought it up and now you're trying to join the cool corner and disassociate yourself. Have some integrity.

Living on another planet.

Timeline:

You: Made inflammatory post making a new negative and deriding point based in assumption no one was talking about.
People: responded disagreeing explaining why and expressing their bemusement as to why one would make this assumption
You: Personal insults
People: You're not very nice
You: I was baited and have some more personal digs

:slap: I do love a good marketer.

Wrong again.
And unnecessarily rude as ever. The thread doesn't lie.

Have a good one.

You're *missing the point*

Stop being such a woke and sensitive individual.

P.s. yes, with you I acknowledge my tolerance isn't there. Why should it be. You're not exactly being a Saint. Pot kettle etc.

I would say much the same to be honest.

Woke? Sorry what? Wrong. And a random personal attack,  again. Endless assumptions that aren't the case, I couldn't be further from "woke".

You feel this way because I have, admittedly, frequently responded to the history of instigated toxicity on here ,calling it out as it happens. It's 99% of the time a response to reading the endless toxicity, not coming on seeking it. Acting like the responder is the issue is textbook gaslighting.

Anyway , if you wish to discuss this further feel free to DM me rather than us clog up this channel further.
others who I've disagreed with before have managed to do so and it's made for a more pleasant environment eventually as a result. Rather than continuing to throw insults that arent necessary in here, where I'm still just trying to make this about whats said, and not go at you personally.

Would love you to explain how these things aren't related.

Also, would love to understand the second bit..

If you prefer talking to people via DM and think it's more civilised, then why are you publicly doing this stuff?

fairly simple - I didn't and don't come in here to make what could just be heartwarming and enjoyable transfer news about something mean-spirited , negative and personal. I responded to something I didn't agree with. Then it's become a whole other thing.

P.s I see you just edited this, not that it matters...

The gaslighting is unreal.

The post responding to you addressed the point you were making - you've since made it into a personal matter and with a swathe of assumptions and personal digs to the point where we've lost entirely sight of what was actually the point on the table.

At which point I've told you to take it to DM messages if you really have to do this...as it's no longer remotely about what this thread is meant to be for and I'm aware people wont want to read this. I will now stop responding so do ya worst here if you really must.

::smile:: both edits are in the post you addressed. Initially it was just the one point about how you react to things 'calling it out as it happens' and saying its '99% a result of reading'. Note you don't have to respond. Many others just don't.

Then you say you're not coming On seeking it. If that were true, you wouldn't call things out 'as it happens'.. you'd just simply nor react or respond. Like 95-98% of posters choose.

The second bit is self explanatory, you're claiming to have values by some sort of virtue signalling, stating that you prefer doing things like this via Dm, which A) suggest you do it more often than I do, and often enough to reference its something you do.. which kinda ties into the first point of you saying you don't come on to the site to have these conversations, when it seems you do and there's now a trend you're admitting to. And B) you haven't taken this to DM at all.

Which either suggests you can't/don't normally, or don't want to.. either way it brings into question for me your integrity.

Re the 'personal assumptions' bit, the interesting thing to me is for whatever reason this is all touching a bone in you.. and ironically what I said wasn't an assumption, especially the bit where I said 'I love a good marketer'.

Marketer's in my opinion pick and choose words and language to fit their narratives. You did this, in my opinion, when amusingly in fairness, you tried to distill the whole conversation into a conversation between 'you' (in this instance referring to me) and misc 'people'.

Other wording you used showed you were using words that implied implicit bias and therefore are, for want of a better phrase, marketing spiele.. which to me, is when someone takes a point and changes the wording to best suit the end goal that's amenable to them and what they're trying to achieve.. which in this instance was for you to try and make me look bad and you as rational, which isn't an objective truth.

And yes, for those catching up, I am enjoying this..

Insert eye roll emoji. The semantics above are a misguided interpretation of the wording and misrepresentation of the situation but it's not worth unpicking further on here. That you feel it's appropriate or necessary to turn this into some attempted personal and pseudo-surgical character assassination, says enough really. I don't feel compelled to rip your psychology apart, we could wax lyrical about the mind of a person who acts in this manner online too conversely.... but it all seems rather uncalled for, and, well, rude.

So - how about we try and get back on track. again.

Woke?

So, it's considered a derisory term for someone who is being overly sensitive.

The distinction is made when someone feels hurt and wants to be listened to, for a legitimate reason vs one that's insincere or perhaps soft or perhaps vanity driven.

An example.

Someone who has had a leg blown off in a war zone, talking about mental health or what it may feel like to be a paraplegic. Or someone who's experienced gang culture and lost friends. Legitimate.

Someone who's woke, may for instance have never visited Israel and Palestine, never known someone from the Middle East or Jewish communities and who has hardly read up on the topic in any meaningful way, beyond skim reading articles on the topic and may associate themselves and their feelings with those they feel may be rightor fair (for either side), to validate themselves in some way.. to perhaps be perceived as having a relevant opinion amongst their peers, trying to prove themselves intellectually in some way that seems reasonable to them, but perhaps isn't in any other more meaningful context.

The line is drawn when it goes from having productive and meaningful conversations and discussions/debates around an issue, which is informed and meaningful and carries some weight which is relevant to the real context and could help vs people who shout people down, or have an opinion mainly to cover up their own insecurities and who haven't in any meaningful way had their views thought through properly or challenged in any meaningful way.

Hope that helps.

Well that's 2 more pages of total bollox 🙄

Woke is not a derisory term for someone who is over sensitive, try touchy, prickly or thin skinned. Woke means being alert to prejudice.

Anyhow, can we please stop the tedious long argument that has run for several pages? Thank you and good day.

It should mean that, but there's a distinction that has to be made because there is one that exists. But in general you are right. As a result it is coined by some as a derisory word for the reasons explained.

Entirely agreed.

Have been trying to get things back on track here, Perhaps the admins might like to consider assisting as I've tried to make it clear this isn't appropriate for a transfer forum.

FFC1987

Basically sums up what I was saying yesterday to be honest. Agree with Twig, if you want to argue fellas, slip into the DM's. Can someone salvage and recover the thread by posting something transfer related? Fine, I will.

Fulham in for Logan Costa from Toulouse. Can't say I've heard of him.

Surely with them getting a replacement in this isn't the case. The never ending saga.
this I would be surprised if it happens.if it does then great,ESR a RCB Willian re signing I will be happy.

We need a DM and maybe even another CM. It's one of our weakest areas on the pitch now alongside LB and RCB. You can't lose Palhinha and expect us to do better. Even if Lukic has a good season you're struggling to find a decent partner for him and if one gets injured then you're severely lacking/found wanting in an area and league you simply can't be.

It's clear we're going for a DM in andré or mctominay and others being mooted.

How do you figure that LB is weak? We have one of the best LBs in the league, and then Sess, Castagne, Ream and Bassey that can play there.

Ream is ageing and rumours of going to the U.S, he's not versatile enough to play LB in a back four - realise this is an opinion... lol.

Sessegnon has genuinely not played a game in a year and a half or longer and is a long term injury concern. He may be fit now, and I hope he stays fit and thrives, but it's acknowledging that there's a chance he simply may not be fit this season. I also see him more as a LW than LB, though acknowledge he can play both IF fit. That's a big if based on a large chunk of his last 4 or so years as a professional. Look up his injury record vs playing time on transfrmrkt.

Bassey may well be a decent option at LB, but I don't think Ream is as solid and I think he's at the end of his career. In an ideal situation Bassey us for me our starting LCB.. which means he's not playing two positions at once.. unless Marco reverts to a back three. Which he is unlikely to do. In that case then, he's not an option.

Leaving just Robinson as a reliable LB option and a very good one at that.

So, if Robinson gets injured and Sessegnon maintains his injury record, which is a legitimate concern and risk, then we have very little long term options there.

Marco likes versatile players, which is great.. and we'll do well with that.. and it could make the Sessegnon and ESR signings make a lot of sense..

But for me, it makes sense to get in another LB.

What about Castagne? He's played numerous times on the left and is more or less as good on the left as he is on the right. Robinson is extremely fit and rarely has cards problems. Last season he started all but one PL game. Unless something drasticaly changes with Robinson's fitness, I doubt someone will have to fill in for more than 2-3 games. Unless Tete is injured that would be Castagne with Tete at rb. If he's injured than Bassey would be an adequate replacement, he played there multiple tikmes in his career. I find it highly unlikely that Robinson, Castagne and Bassey will all be out at the same time, but if there are surely Sess can do okay for a game or two, we did fine with BDR at rightback in a few games two seasons ago.

All in all, I am in the group that believe we don't need a new leftback now. Maybe if we get everything we need and then get a new leftback on deadline day.

Yeh I think we're pretty well covered there as you say, but I do like the link to Oosterwolde (though don't know how much truth is in it). More so because it would provide a LCB and LB in one which would do the trick as I think it could be time to look at who replaces Ream going forwards.

I too see Sess as way better LW than LWB though so do think a LCB/LB like Morato or Oosterwolde seem a good shout. I agree that there are bigger priorities though for sure.
