He's closer to Fulham than he is Sevilla.

Schoolboy error! I should have checked.  Sorry

ElRay

If we have moved on from Andre, hopefully we move onto the next target very quickly.

Palhinha's replacement/replacement's really isn't one we can't afford to wait around for. Especially if it's a pivot we want to replace him, would really need at least one of them in before opening day to start developing a relationship with players who are already here.

It's not ideal but a Lukic, Reed/Cairney midfield is enough to be competitive while the McT and Andre sagas are rumbling on

l am not worried as Lukic can do the DM role ,no one can replace JP to same level.

I personally don't really share this optimism. That's a significant downgrade to a really important part of our side and the odd games fine but anything more than 2-3 games is risky and something a side like ours trying to compete for European places can't really afford.

Still optimistic but I really hope we pull our fingers out soon.

shameless scousers sign him, don't play him in the right position and then have the cheek to want more than triple what they paid for him despite stunting his progression and career

Hate to say it, but maybe this will be a lesson to other youngsters.
He is far from the first youngster to have this happened to him. Actually he is not even the first Fulham youngsters. If young footballers shouldve learned from this then surely Carvalho would have learned from Pat Roberts, but unfortunately thats not how footballers (or youngsters even) go about things

Exactly - most on here saw this happening a mile off when the talk of him leaving first emerged. A greedy agent got in his ear, sold him a dream, and has seriously hampered his blossoming career for a quick buck.

Hopefully Fab is able to get the minutes he now needs. I'd happily have him back here in a heartbeat, and don't think £20m (inc add ons) is a silly number in the current market.
correct 20 million can be classed a snip.

If he gets sold for £20m (not to us) how much money would we get? There was talk earlier that a £6M sell of Jay would facilitate a £26M player (or in that region) so it would be handy if Liverpool sell him

good defender and would certainly improve us but: age, wage and that knee injury makes me think that there are other capable RCBs out there with lower risk

He ruptured his achilles two seasons ago, and last season made 38 appearances so I think he's over the injury now. It's also the only proper injury in his career

Hamstring injury this season as well.

Either way, pointless debate if he is off to Sevilla

That was only 3-4 games as a strain though so not a major injury tbf, and the tweet in our reply thread is fake!

colinwhite

no-ones ever back to 100 percent after an achilles rupture.

It's a small sample size but last season our results with no Palhinha were:

Everton 0 Fulham 1
Man City 5 Fulham 1
Fulham 3 Wolves 2
Man United 1 Fulham 2
Fulham 3 Brighton 0

Some good teams we defeated there and decent performances too. Man City unfortunate but they always turn us over.

Jim©

Agree. We played 7 games without palhinha in league and Cup and won 6. The one we lost was to man city.
Yes I'd like another player who could come in and be great, but we're certainly not doomed without one.

Plus Lukic didn't play in the Man City game and Cairney got injured in the first half. Nothing against Harris but he's inexperienced and definitely not a 6. Lukic-Reed combo worked great in every game.

FFC1987

Personally not going to read much into games last season as a metric of whether or not we will be better off with/without Palinha and with Lukic/Reed.

For me it's fairly simple, are we confident enough in them that they will be starters next season or do we need to invest.

It's not a matter of right or wrong though. Just opinion and as I said, I don't share your or others optimism, especially for a side trying to push through top 10 to Europe.

But ultimately, we'll see I guess.
