Quote from: General on August 13, 2024, 04:25:38 PMCan't help but admire Palace's stance on Guehi and wondering if Fulham's was a bit weak re Mitro and Palhinha in comparison.. We never had a statement from our ownership saying Palhinha's the best DM in europe, or one of the best, and young and has a lot of his career ahead of him and people need to pay what that's worth.. Still feel £50m was cheap for him.

https://twitter.com/SkySports_Keith/status/1823365971987267587

Palhinha isn't young though, he's 29 and in his prime. Guehi is 24 and there's the English player premium that bumps it up.

Yeah the age is a big factor. Mitro and Joao s value just would have kept going down. If Guehi has another stormer of a season he won't be worth much less.

I'd say more important however is that Parish has said Guehi isn't causing any trouble at all. Mitro was a complete spoilt child and made the whole situation impossible so we had to sell. Although Joao was professional look at all the rubbish from his brother the year before and Joao himself made it crystal clear he wanted out. I thought Joao was worth well over £50m but all these factors probably forced our hand.

With all this in mind I think we have a chance with Andersen. Both him and Guehi have 2 years left on their contract. No way Palace lose both this window but if losing one who would they prefer, a 28 year old losing value who they won't get an offer for this high again or a 24 year old who they can probably still sell next year for about what Newcastle have already offered? Not impossible at all that Andersen goes for £35 million and Guehi stays if Newcastle don't stomp up £65m to £70m.

St Eve

Would much prefer Andersen to Carlos. That would be a real coup. Get a quality DM, not Phillips, and we have a decent squad

Quote from: Friendsoffulham on August 13, 2024, 07:16:41 PMCan we politely remind everyone, that this is the Silly Season Transfer Thread.

Anything posted in here is not facts, it's merely information passed on by other people, and those people don't claim to be ITK's either.

In the past, people have been driven away from this Forum, as they've been jumped on from a great height, being accused of telling lies or supplying false information.

What is also not acceptable, is talking about other peoples personal lives on here, what they do around home games, who they go with, where they sit, or how many times they go etc.

Once again, these people are good enough to supply us with information, true or false, on here or fed through via Twitter.

The Silly Season Transfer Thread is what it is, it's a bit of fun, but shouldn't be used for petty squabbles or targeting other people.

Here here. Thanks for the post and I'm personally pleased to have seen those whose only interest was to act in the fashion you described being expunged from the board (Freibird).

Disagreeing is one thing and i don't require it to be agreeable but constant nefarious dragging up of past posts to score points and attack other posters is another.

As you rightly insinuate, nobody wants to spend time in a toxic environment and I personally feel that the existing culture of this board is worth protecting

Second that
Disagreements one things personal attacks and the like all rather unnecesary.

Hopefully we can keep it that way going forwards. Agreed that the callback posting stuff was rather overboard too so glad if true that were moving on from that

Agree with this, and a general note that it's possible to disagree and not say it in a condescending way.

It could be my rose-tinted glasses talking but Andersen really feels like he'd go a long way to plugging part of the defensive gap Palhinha is leaving as well as really taking our build-up from the back to the next level.

Add in Andre to the mix and suddenly we would have an incredibly talented back 5/6 with a great mix of rugged defensive players either with pace and strength (Robinson, Bassey) or top tier technical ability and vision (Andersen, Andre).

That set-up added in with ESR and co ripping it up at the other end has me real excited.

The dream is being dangled before our very eyes. I am saying my Fulham prayers before bed tonight.

Sense that Andersons pretty keen on the move from his body language and smirk here.

As others say I do wonder if its the better option if they can make good money off us rather than selling guehi knowing Andersons value only falls at his age season on season. From Parish comments though he seems to be posing that hes happy to string it out for a while yet as under no desperate pressure to sell.

Either way Anderson is likely to get a pay rise. Either with (imo an unlikely but if it happens very welcome) transfer to us or from Palace aka Palhinha staying with us last summer.

Little wonder he's giggling 🤭

Nero

Would palace sell both their starting CB in one window?

Unlikely according to Parish himself so hes said they need to go away and think about best course of action

Options appear to be

1. Keep em
2. Wait to see if the quoted "superstar" money offer arrives from Newcastle for Guehi, if so, possibly sell him and keep anderson

3. Sell Anderson to us for less, but still a significant fee for a man his age and contract length. Keep guehi

Either way exploring backup options and costs to inform those decisions I guess. Expect this is drag on a little longer.

Meanwhile well see what palace say to our latest offer and if rejected perhaps opt for Diego Carlos or least find out what more we need to offer to make a judgement call on next move. Could roll on a little longer this saga but weve offered a decent amount all things considered so niw we wait

Is it only me who is not quite convinced about Andersen?  If we were talking about the player from his season with us then I'd be 100% screaming for it. However, what sort of Andersen would we be getting now? From what I've seen he's dropped a notch or two. Perhaps Marco would get him right back to his best, I guess we have to trust that would happen?

For pricing context

Man utd just signed 25 year old De Ligt for 38m (not incl add-ons)

Really think our offer for joachim is perfectly reasonable all things considered

Interesting, it really is a game of opinions, hard to say, as mentioned my palace buddy still really rates him and is gutted that he might go but others say their palace buds feel differently. Plenty online seem to be worried or defensive about losing him. As ever well only know if and when it were to happen. Risks with all signings, hopefully he fits in well here if he comes back.

As you say Marco has been very successful raising player's levels, and we know he has a great ceiling.

But in all honesty I've not really seen too much of Andersen since he left us outside of us playing them or MotD so I'm definitely not the best judge of his current levels.

But if he's the player I remember then I think £25mill + 5 is (the top end of) fair.

I'm definitely pro Andersen but I have to say De Ligt is a few years younger and has won titles in Europe's biggest leagues.

The price he's going for looks better value than what we're proposing for a very good Prem player who's only ever played midtable and couldn't make the Lyon team starting XI

Indeed. Even so, Palace are at liberty to be unreasonable and insist on more. This may still be our best option.

Yeh I was saying I think were offering a very reasonable fee that certainly isnt insulting given the market.

De Ligt hasnt really hit the early ajax wonderkid heights that was projected for him at Juve and Bayern but still a well rated CB so not a horrendous deal for Utd.

Lets see how the saga plays out. If im palace and I can get that money in and do a loan with option to buy deal as rumoured on chalobah (if hes happy to go there as he seemingly wasnt to us)... I probably take that offer and see how it goes for a year with trevoh

I wish I knew been searching about for it to no avail.

Apparently today with sky reporter rob dorsett. In the rest of the interview after this I gather he resorts to the usual professional generic quotes about being happy at palace and how their building something etc but only after not exactly shutting it down as can be seen in this clip.

If you or anyone find it please do forward it here

Found it

https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/13196509/joachim-andersen-its-always-nice-when-clubs-want-you

Addiitonal open interview with Parish from palace about the situation. Well worth a watch, touches on something I spoke about when Palhinha sale was going on that someone shot down, that part about not blocking a move to  a club like bayern for someone like Joao is thinking about how that looks and could go against our chances of attracting more top emerging potential talent going forwards... That showing if you come to fulham (or palace) you can shine and progress your career and wont be held. Prisoner. And that in doing so you can compete for better players (like esr) and hope to get timing right and secure yourself as a team contesting for europe.

Shows its a competitive space though, all mid table clubs trying to do the same
