If you take a look at his stats profile he's actually a more rounded player than McTominay, and he's also not a proper #6 either, so with the figures quoted I would imagine it also gives us budget for Andre and a CB + forward because at one point it was Andre & McTominay and Berge is £10m cheaper than the quoted price for McTominay. He's also got good physical presence which we need because neither AP or Lukic have that in their game. Also have we learned nothing from Marco era signings that are "underwhelming" before Marco turns them into far better players
I don't care about stats I look with my eyes and he is terrible. He is slow and cumbersome shocking signing if it comes to pass. Hamer is a much better player

Quote from: DM on August 19, 2024, 07:02:08 PMSander Berge emerging as a potential alternative to Scott McTominay.
The Scotland international is battling with his heart as he decides whether or not to leave his boyhood club.

Didn't expect it to move this quickly but still very happy.

Fair play for naming Berge signing half an hour before Sky Sports. Keep it going. Any other players close to sign?

The club is deciding whether to go in again for Andersen. Joe Gomez is another being discussed. A CB currently playing in France is also of interest. CB is the next priority after Berge.

Andersen, Gomez or the French lad Palace are chasing isn't inside information just something anybody on this board could predict.
I said a CB playing IN France not French. 👍🏻

You're taking the news that Toney is off to Saudi well then?

Quote from: SerbianLad on August 19, 2024, 08:56:49 PMOf course I'll welcome him and cheer him on and I hope he'll have a great career with Fulham, but I'm really underwhelmed with this signing, especially at that price. I don't think he's a bad player, but he's massively overrated in my opinion. 25 million also seems a lot for him, imo at least. I'd have spent 15 million at most.

I'm with you on this. If a 12 month global search to replace Paulinha has ended up with Berge then our scouting needs addressing ...

Interesting that reading through burnley forums who have watched him with their own eyes week in week out they almost entirely seem to universally disagree with you. "class" "top player" " suprised he isnt at a bigger club yet" "absolutely gutted to lose him" "massive loss" etc etc 🤷🏻

Could be wrong if course but theyve seen plenty of him

Fulham Mike

Quite like the Berge signing, not at all surprised we went in for him.

Would still like to see us get Andre in as the cdm and perhaps let Reed go?

Think our midfield would look really strong then

Yep. I've been reading the same. Fans watching him week in week out I'll take that. Add that to the stats I've posted where he is just clearly better all round than McT who United fans in the main can't wait to get rid of signs are we've done well here.

He's in his prime and for the first time he will be playing in a good prem team under a brilliant manager who will hopefully kick him on even more.

sarnian

Berge currently has a quad injury, don't know how long he's out for.

Reading their forum it is a very minor injury and he was due back so nothing to worry about by the sounds of it.

Marcel_Gecov

If he does half as well as our last Norwegian skipper then we are in for a treat!

Bassey the warrior

I like Berge but he strikes me as more of an 8 than a 6. He's not a like for like Palhinha replacement, same with McTominay.

It doesnt feel alot when Leicester are spending more upfront for Oliver freaking Skipp.

What a player Stefan Johansen was. :Khan_you_fix_it:

South Coast White

I would be interested in the role Scott Parker has played in this potential signing.

I still watch his shthousery on youtube rather frequently.

Berge is fine I think and compliments lukic or reed well. Not sure what it means for our midfield though- ap at 10? Or replacement?

Well what they spent on Skipp is frankly ridiculous. Can't remember when was the last time someone overpaid by that much.

I would suspect he'll play the deeper role for now with AP or Lukic at CM. Purely because of his size and physicality (and experience there)

I know people are saying he's an 8 but in his career he's played

1 game at CB
2 games at CAM
97 games at CM
167 games at CDM

So he's had plenty experience in DM albeit he's played the 8 much more recently for Burnley and a split amount at Sheffield. At Genk he was an out and out DM so will be interesting to hear Marcos comments if he passes his medical and it all gets tied up, that'll be our first indication of where he seems him I guess.

demeant0r

Fans weren't overly overwhelmed when we signed Hangeland and look how that turned out. Give it a go lads, we've not had many duds (looking at you Mbabu) in the Marco era.
