Funny that if he does sign today well have actually signed a player earlier than previous 2 seasons 😅

Benda medical at Milwall, good for him, he needs regular football to see if he can step up a level
Did he ever play any Premiership games?
Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

But will he get regular football? I can't see him replacing their starting keeper who was very solid last season.

Well if he can't get in there he isn't getting in here that's for sure. We'll see if there is an option or obligation with this loan.

He's 26 so it's last chance saloon for him with us you'd think, I suspect we've brought in this French GK to provide improved compteition at GK on Benda  for the next couple of years whilst we see if:
A) Benda develops with regular game time
B) Borto (I recall was highly rated when we first signed him) can step up into the 2nd GK position in his place in the next couple of years ala Rodak.

He always looked shaky to me whenever he played. Glad we're replacing him.

I don't think that is a correct read of the situation re Benda. I feel pretty confident that he's already been written off by the club. Let's be honest, I thought it was an odd signing to begin with. His underlying numbers in the Championship were decidedly unimpressive and I don't think he's shown anything in his cup minutes with us to suggest he's anywhere close to being even PL backup quality. His contract ends next summer (though we do have an option) and I suspect that this is a move to save a little salary this season and we'll let him go in the summer (though with the option if he does end up playing and playing well we'd at least be able to trigger it and get some kind of fee for him).

You've chopped off option B :slap:

I said the situation of bringing in Lacomte means one of 2 things

EITHER
They see how Benda gets on on loan. (also said it may be he has an option regardless)
OR
We look to Borto as the next in line for the number 2 spot in a few years.

Lacomte being on the older side means he's a high-quality replacement but one that provides us with competition while we see if one of our younger keepers can step up like Rodak did

If neither of those things happen (or even if they do) then in a couple seasons I'm sure they'll look to spend out on a number
1. Incidentally I agree Benda did look shaky at times, but he was reportedly deemed a pretty good young keeper at swansea and we already have a number 1 here. Difficult though for him though not having any game time, felt he was over compensating and trying to do too much when he did play and nearly got badly found out a couple times. Quite possible the clubs seen enough. In which case - Eyes will be on Borto I would think

Eh, there wasn't an "or" in your original post but regardless I was simply stating that I think it's pretty clear Benda has passed the "last chance saloon" stage with us and we're really not terribly concerned with his development as he'll never play for Fulham again.

re Borto there was actually a (poorly sourced tbf) rumor the other day suggesting he might be off to MLS (on a loan/buy option deal).

As I noted above, he'll likely need an injury to/big dip in form from Millwall's #1 to get much game time with them (something we were no doubt aware of when we signed off on the loan). I mean if we really thought he might develop into a GK who could help us in the future you'd think we would have been more concerned about finding a loan where he was actually likely to play!

re Borto there was actually a (poorly sourced tbf) rumor the other day suggesting he might be off to MLS (on a loan/buy option deal).

"I suspect we've brought in this French GK to provide improved competition at GK on Benda for the next couple of years whilst we see if: "
Option A)
Option B)

I thought it was directly implied that it gives room for 1 of 2 situations to materialise regarding our younger keepers, thought that was relatively clear but perhaps not.

So sure, you might well be right that he's missed his chance to impress entirely. But then we could just sell him for peanuts. IF they have an option on that loan then yes that would certainly confirm that he likely won't get another shot here - and as I say we'd presumably be looking then to Bortos (or another youth prospects) development before deciding our next GK move after the 2 senior GK's we have here.

Re Borto sounds like a good idea to me for him to go on loan at 21 years old, but i it is with an option - then next in line would be Mcnally I believe. Either way, the 2 vet keepers give us some breathing room for the next few years to work out the next move.

I hope the new kit gets released soon. Could be why signings are not released as they want them in the new kit etc... Anyone know when Media day is as they normally do a photo shoot video

It's normally quite early. I remember the kit photos seemingly looking like they were taken in the off-season, or even at the end of the previous season last year.

When do we go to Portugal? As I can't remember seeing anything about the media day happening this week online, if it hasn't happened surely now will be after Portugal

Hate the platform not the user.

I try to do this sometimes but it's not exactly an intuitive UX working out on the go which bit to remove whilst maintaing the quote ya replying to
