Quote from: HV71 on August 10, 2025, 07:38:42 AMI know its a forum and I know I could bypass the posts but this is the transfer thread ( albeit silly ) so I have to view it - and its become like the Muppet Show with Statler & Waldorf.
Please , please set up your own thread and bicker to your hearts content. Neither of you are going to let it go so just keep bitching on but somewhere else! I have said before that both of you make extremely good points but they become lost behind the veils of your individual pedantic stances.

Im sure you are both terrific blokes to have a drink with  but not at the same time.

Apologies for the rant gentlemen but Im exhsusted

Last time this was said weeks back I left the responding to Angus aside for a while. The bickering and sniping continued here just with other people. 🤷

More than happy to move on. Had already decided to DM regarding the last post fwiw

Bloke on Facebook says Mitrovic is coming back and is insistent that Marco kept contact. BONG!

Quote from: Twig on August 09, 2025, 09:21:12 PMSo, given our failure to sign anyone other than a reserve keeper, who starts at LB next week? Castagne on the left, Bassey out of position, an untried kid? But for those who are relaxed about our current squad I guess one injury must be easy to cover?

Yeah, we are down to 3 senior players that are used to covering a position (Cuenca, Bassey, Castagne) after the two first choices are out. Clearly a lack of coverage.

I'm not sure how you figure how we will fit at least 3 dedicated players for every position with a 25 man squad, but those are just petty details I'm sure.

Not even impressive sarcasm for a ten year old.

Would love an explanation then given your towering intellect. We are down two players and still have several that are comfortable on the left and you're throwing a fit about how we need more depth.

If your argument is that Sess isn't a left back, take it up with Silva.

What are "bloke on Facebook's" credentials😅

Sounds like sauce but wouldn't that be fun if true!

P.s Nelson was on bench for Arsenal friendly but didn't make an appearance off it. He's definately on his way, if we do go that way there's no major rush as he's familiar with the team etc. if someone else then be nice to get them in the door soon. Still gutted to hear Kevin is injured, think he's a bit special but assuming that's a no go now.

Tin hat on but do you think Sees came off to put pressure on board to get Zinchenco done.

Agreed.

Kinda hoping the guy on FB is right and Mitro is incoming

ElRay

I hope Marco gets what he wants but 4/5 seems a bit much considering how we do business.

Out of the blue big signings like Andersen, Berge, Cuenca were areas we really needed because we lost key players in those areas.

We may get a surprise depth option like Adama or Raul out of nowhere, but real big money Squad improvement signings over the last few years who were signed to raise the level like ESR, Castagne, Iwobi were linked early and deals dragged on for a while over the summer. Just like what's going on with Nelson now

Deadline day in recent seasons we've had multiple deals on the go at the same time but it's either too late or we can't convince the player so we get 1 over the line. If we're really gonna get the numbers Marco wants in 3 weeks, I think we would be publicly very close to a few

Hope not, for me Zinchenko had an iffy last season at city and has been getting worse at Arsenal.

Agreed. He is a liability now. Every mistake he makes ends in a goal against imho
Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

@jolslover

Think Zinchenko would be a good signing for us - think he's moved more to a CM these last couple of years (where he's always played for Ukraine) rather than being a LB but obvious positive is he could play both positions. Think he's one of those players who at the moment isn't good enough for a Champions league side but would excel at Fulham.  We've found a sweet spot getting this level player in recent years

Arsenal mate doesn't rate him at all and wants rid. But if coached right could do a job for us in defence/midfield.

Jay, that's a bit rich coming from you given your long bickers with Angus.

Mitro would be a very expensive third striker. Not as good as the players we have. Hope it is nonsense.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Anyone else feel that we may actually not end up signing Reiss Nelson? This saga is beginning to feel more and more like the Hudson Odoi one. If Arsenal want a permanent deal and we're not willing, wouldn't surprise me if another club came along late in the window and offered him a deal. Could imagine Brentford or Sunderland coming in with a permanent offer.

Think he is a jack of all trades type footballer. Decent squad type but not who we should be looking at if building for future! Not brilliant as a left back and not influential enough in midfield. City was his glory days.
