Im one that thinks doing business first few weeks in August isn't an issue. Still time to gel and settle in especially with an established squad. Still time if things go wrong.

This is frigging madness however. We needed a starting 8 and left winger and those positions should have been filled by now. I don't particularly mind a third striker late but to be where we are at this point is reckless for me. As always who knows what's going on behind the scenes and they may still pull it out of the bag but if they don't there's going to be hell to pay with the manager and the fan base and rightly so.

It is slightly beyond me why fans think this is a choice to leave it so late. It is beyond me whey Silva who we were once told is part of the process seems flabbergasted that all the possibles have gone to other clubs. As if he had no input at all. Did he suggest the wrong players? No can't be his fault. Nothing ever is.

People still blame the title of the job. As if the bloke who lives abroad and knows less about football than wrestling is somehow the one in charge because it says so next to his name. Is he the only one?

I am naturally as frustrated as many. But am old AND have learned that blaming people is a social media trick where the ignorant pile on with the stupid. We will learn late Monday what the fate of the team is. I do know it has been handled badly by everybody at the club. Lack of news, leaving Silva flailing in the media spotlight looking confused and annoyed. That should be improved upon next time.

The ridiculous stories and the silly speculation remain a fun part of all this. We all take it all too seriously. We will no doubt have plenty to say Monday night and Tuesday Morning. By then it will be all too late to care. Players we don't want, players we wanted more, players too old or too inexperienced. It will all start again Tuesday. Relegation or Europe? The conversations continue.

Defo a strange window this one, as said before I'll reserve judgement until Monday.

That's always been a consistent theme for us and our transfer policy under the khan's though.. we've always straddled that line. Often it hasn't worked, and everyso often it does - e.g. ESR, Palhinha, Leno etc.

That said, they must surely have created a list of realistic and unrealistic targets.


For what it's worth, if I was a player and had to speak to Tony Khan, I'd consider him an awkward and slightly off-putting personality and I wouldn't want him as the front man to our deal as I'd be less likely to sign for him.. he doesn't strike me as a normal and serious man.

Clearly Leno, Bassey, Andersen, Iwobi, ESR etc didn't have a problem with TK unless of course you have first hand experience of meeting TK?

I'm saying a personal opinion. There's more than enough video content and interviews online to be able to gauge how I'd personally view him. I wouldn't take him seriously as a professional, he still comes across quite childish. I'd need to speak directly to Shahid and Marco to feel I'm dealing with adults. If everything was funneled through him up to a certain stage for instance of the negotiating process, I'd be put off by him to a degree. And I say that knowing he's the son of the owner of a PL club. I'm not shallow, which it may seem saying this, but the question is - do I trust TK with the responsibility he's been given and to act it out in good measure.. realistically I think not.

It's a very simplistic view to put the entire transfer window strategy, despite having the cash, on the last 2 days of the window, also completely risky. Now I'm not saying he's the only one solely responsible - there's a team effort involved, but I'd imagine he has a influential say - fundamentally as DOF, he'll have an outsized influence over Ali Mac when contrasted to previous working relationships Ali Mac would've had.

For me, you'd see key targets, and at the very least know you've got a budget and bring in one or two early in good measure, to ensure safety/security/team cohesion/building out the squad..

I expect us to sign players between now and the deadline, but I have to be honest in saying that I'll be very surprised if we don't fall short. Even if we didn't it's not something I'd want us to mess around with again, as the more it happens, the more likely it'll not work in the future.
