With our aging squad, oldest in the PL, plus a few players either off our well out of form. It feels like the club are going to have to bite the bullet on many fronts. We will need to sell of a few players who we will no longer receive a decent fee for (Robinson and Muniz), Let Wilson go on a free, ideally bring in a new 1st choice striker and a backup, release/replace TC, Reed, Leno, Castagne etc.

This summer is pivitol and it may also come with a new manager search

I'm also starting to get the feeling this summer will be very important. In terms of priority I'd say the midfield. If we lose one of Lukic or Berge we appear to be stuffed, and I think we should try to upgrade them in any case.

On form 50/50
On season's performance overall keep as no. 2/3 Striker
Money would have to drop significantly.
On loyalty we keep him but today's world no place for sentimentality.

I tend to agree with your points especially the sentimentality point. Often feel the the owners think our fans will like us extending or keeping a older player or fans favourite for another year or two as opposed to long term future?

Having said that the bigger issue for me would be the thought of Muniz leading the line come August!

Tend to agree, his style suits the system, assuming we continue this system. That said we also need a system where we generate goals from around the team. I like Delap, if he can control his temper and yellow/red card rate he could be good

Signing a first choice striker and a central midfielder should be the club's absolute priority. We can't go another season with Jiminez and Muniz. It's a recipe for disaster and would show no ambition from the club. Delap is a decent shout but Chelsea being Chelsea would probably ask stupid money.

Liam is amazing, always passes the eye test for me and hate playing against teams that have him in their starting 11

He will probably go to Ipswich on a season long loan

Only downside, he's 33.

Even bigger downgrade, he was terrible at West Ham.

On Delap personally think we are crying out for a forward who can play with his back to the goal. Jiminez can but looking at age he has not got if any further improvement which you would expect at his age. I would say his done the hard yards over the years. Saying that at times this season Delap when featuring for Chelsea has looked every inch an Championship forward! I wouldn't be surprised if he ended back at Ipswich next season. Chelsea paying £30m is a punt for them whereas if we are paying £30m we need oven ready??

We will not get a proven oven ready first choice striker for anything like £30 mil IMO. At that price there will be some sort of significant compromise involved. More importantly the wage demands for this oven ready striker will be huge and likely negatively impact our already dodgy SCR position.

If we go the oven ready route we will need to have done some serious pruning of highly paid players from our squad. Let's not forget that we are also crying out for a creative  CM and possible a defensive one too. This summer is going to be a lot about juggling transfer costs and wage deals.

About £30mil is what Thiago cost. If we had decent scouting we might find decent bargains out there!
