Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2024

An aside from Parker being useless, I'm slightly envious or impressed by West Ham's transfer business this summer. Fullkrug, Summerville, Todibo (who's been linked with us in the past), Kilman too on what was an already decent squad, makes them one to watch for me this season. They've done their business quickly, most in for the start of the season and at a good level.

Interesting to draw some sort of parallels to Fulham, they've upgraded their stadium, found a better manager and have been building their squad's ability to compete over a number of windows. They're ahead of us obviously as things stand, but curious to see it come together.

Interesting, given I've seen a lot of their fans on Twitter are not massively impressed by their business and think they've been fleeced, overpaying for Kilman at £40m and Summerville at £25m.

I do think Palace would rather sell Guehi, maybe for PSR/FFP reasons, but it does meant they are still considering our bid (25 + 5 million) for Anderson I guess

I wouldn't have thought PSR would be a massive problem for Palace given they just sold Olise for £40m+ profit, and they have a big asset in Wharton who they could easily bank another £50m+ from should they feel the pressure.

Yeah not saying you're necessarily wrong, especially given his strong Euros Guehi is very saleable right now. I just think another major sale after Olise would be bad PR for the Palace owners at the moment, especially because it's also not certain if Eze will stay either.

Haha - for the record I think we need at least 3 more, ideally 4, with a RCB, DM, CM and LW as our priorities.

Yeah really interesting this. End of the day they need to confirm Newcastle aren't going to pay what they want before coming back to us. If Newcastle do pay crazy money I suppose the sell Guehi but really sounds like Newcastles patience is wearing this. Different reports of amount they have bid but all seem to be £65m to £70m which for me is getting to a very fair offer for Guehi and if I were them I wouldn't go any higher. Said before I think Palace s preference out of the two would be to sell Andersen so reckon they'll come back to us if Newcastle don't hit the mark. If not they would have rejected us already you would have thought. Come on Newcastle...move on!!

Yes I'll go with that but would like to see another centre forward as I am not convinced (happy to be proved wrong) that there are enough goals from the current two? Both are streaky and it might pay off but remember it was November time before the centre forward got going last season. We'll probably leave it until January if it becomes clear Banjo Cow's Backside? Let's hope after tonight there are plenty willing to tell me different?

They never upgraded any stadium. Taxpayers did and they get for cheap.

Sounds like thats because we are waiting to hear on Anderson bid, if that gets rejected reportedly were likely to make a new offer there.

According to my Villa mate this guy is their reliable ITK. Not sure how much I believe it, personally think we're now stalling Carlos pending Palace responding on the Andersen bid, which in itself seems to be pending Newcastle putting in another Guehi bid.

I just saw on skysports they are going to reject newcastles latest offer. I doubt Newcastle come back. Hopefully that means Andersen deal is on.

I mean, it is savage of us but at the same time this is how it works. It shouldn't, but it is.

I mean, If their counter offer was such a reasonable price, and our current rejected bid so low, then multiple world clubs would have been all over it presumably , but they havent been. So we remain the only club to have valued him this summer at wbat we did and clearly for now are not alone in not being willing to pay more than that valuation at this stage so dont think it that savage at all.

This is a very valid point (I mean that sincerely) but I guess the flipside is, where is the alternative young, promising DM we're going to sign instead? In other words, if £20m if a fair offer for a player of this quality, why don't we just find another one to sign for that price?

Weve offered 25m reportedly. On the surface it seems like Andre is a favoured option and seen as the best suited bang for potential buck and so are waiting to see if they budge therefore.

Otherwise im no scout and we have a whole department who will have determined other targets with marco, but in that range I suppose you could look at Florentino Luis, Samuel Ricci.
Go cheaper and go for an Eric Martel... Decide to go bigger and spend big money on Hjulmand or Verela, weve been linked to bove but hes a little more cm than CDM imo.

There are others out there but we seem confident to sit it out so well see how it materialises come end of the window I guess.

His first tweet saying it was a done deal came on the 11th August, we know since then weve had 2 bids for Anderson so unless we sign 2 RCBs and sell Diop it sounds unlikely its a done deal, albeit we may have agreed terms in principle with the club
