Probably injured already

Maybe the reports of us being skint aren't true or we're selling someone??

But isn't it great - 2 new names to chew over and t's only 9.00am  ::wink::
Great if true. Imagine wages might not  be extortionate compared to other reported targets as a young Brazilian coming from the Ukrainian league, so possibly why we can go for him as a bid not a loan.

Also if true, I really don't see why we wait until 10 days before the season opener to go for a player of this profile - I get that being the case with the likes of Douglas Luiz, Joao Palhinha and others of a higher profile who might be waiting to see if teams in Europe put in a bid.

If we are in for him then this is one that could and should have been put in earlier.

Whinge out of my system, go get him Fulham!

Quote from: General on August 07, 2025, 08:44:12 AMYeah, but every PL side has also spent considerably more than we have this season so far.. its not just a promoted team thing.

I know it's been covered before but some sides who have spent money have lost a lot of 1st team players. Everton lost a third of their players, Brentford lost two of their most influential players, Bournemouth have lost the 3 best players of their back 5. If we'd been in a similar position and lost a good few, I'd be raging if we'd not signed anyone yet. We're in no hurry (though would love to get a few that will improve the squad).

Yeah went through the list of completed ins and outs per club, and there's not a lot of exciting movement - Liverpool, City, Chelsea.. The promoted sides have made a lot of signings, but not in any atypical way - volume but not really quality.

Very true.
I think it's going to be like this with new rules in next year- the big clubs will spend freely as they have the income to support it. Clubs like us will need to tighten the purse strings, get better at recruiting cheaply or get new income streams.

Not to create an excuse but on those lists, I also noticed quite a few obligation to buys, or turning loans into permanents so some of the squads around us or below aren't 'improving' as such, more retaining, so similar to us in retaining squads, but obviously, as mentioned as well, a lot of our competitors are being picked apart as well.

Not going to entertain the idea others have suggested that posters like myself, although are happy with the current squad, also acknowledge we need some transfers in to improve, but I don't think this continuation of looking at others and going 'they signed some, why can't we' is getting a tad boring when urgencies are totally different. We still have plenty of time to add quality. We aren't standing still. Let's wait and see.

So these rules have been created to keep the same clubs at the top. How is everyone else supposed to compete. It stinks!

Count Flapula

Hmm, on the Kevin links will Shakhtar really want to sell to us after the way we dealt with the Manor Solomon transfer? Don't think they were too pleased with us over that so imagine that will make negotiating a viable price harder than other clubs who didn't try to dick them over.

Kevin's a great name!  :slap:

It would be hilarious to build an entire team made up of players with mundane Brazilian names.

Fred and Kevin come to mind. I'm sure there's lots more, but I'm struggling to think of any at the moment!

Thats the one most self evident thing about elite football.

The PL brand is synonymous with the big clubs with the big budgets, and there always seems to be a favouritsm to them.

When they wanted to do their breakaway league FIFA then appeased them by giving them $1bn dollars in the club world cup, chucking money at the problem, because that's what they all ultimately wanted more of.

My concern is foreign ownership- so many clubs are now owned and run by Americans that it biases things towards, in my view, overly commercial models (we've seen that with FFCTV putting all content behind a pay wall initially, then sky rocket season prices in the new stand), and also pushing towards clubs not owing loyalty to a particular location/fan base etc, because the model in US sports is very fluid and clubs especially NBA/NFL move cities to suit interests.

I think the PL is a significant British export and soft power play, so I don't think the UK govt would ever (in their sane mind) let that happen, but it doesn't surprise me that things are inherently biased towards the big teams, even if it needs sorting.

We saw that when we were beating Utd and Mitro, Willian got sent off.. and the furore around Mitros shoving of the ref (which wasn't even that), and then the season later it happened with big six players on a number of occasions and in one instance even worse yet nothing happened.

Translation: Milan, Chukwueze remains on the way out: Fulham has proposed a loan with an option to buy, the Rossoneri are asking for at least an obligation. Negotiations are ongoing

Football Authorities want a super league. A European League. They don't want all these smaller clubs that win only the odd cup to compete. They want the best competing for huge tv money that can be sold around the World.

If they couldn't manage to get it through the front door. They will make economic rules so hard for the smaller clubs to compete that eventually they wont exist or revert back to a regional league and allow the big clubs to make the money and the Football Authority's to make money for making the game a farce.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Totally agree, and then factor in the conflict of interest when you have nation states involved who are putting money into the UK, but flouting rules. The whole thing is a total mess now and it's all too late.

The celebrity focus surrounding Birmingham and Wrexham also leaves me feeling queasy, are we meant to be excited? Charmed? Also owners like Marinakis.

Does feel we have reached a tipping point with foreign owners, in particular the number of American owners across PL and Championship that just continues to gather speed.

Not Fulham but related to the topic we are discussing. From the BBC

Al-Hilal have reached an agreement to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez for 53m euros (£46.3m)
Nunez is now expected to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Saudi Pro League.
The 26-year-old Uruguay international joined the Reds in June 2022 from Portuguese side Benfica for an initial fee of £64m.
Nunez has scored 40 goals in 143 appearances but only started eight Premier League games during Liverpool's title-winning campaign last season.
Selling Nunez would financially boost the Reds' chances of signing Newcastle striker Alexander Isak in this transfer window.
The Magpies turned down an opening offer of £110m from Liverpool last week as they value the 25-year-old Sweden international at around £150m.

So currently:

Nelson - close a week ago but seems dead in the water at this stage. Dont think we have abandoned it completely, maybe just playing hard ball with Arsenal.

Kevin- bid rejected and its unclear if or how we will go about this. Im guessing that we will have to move quickly to sign him

Chuckuwueze - has taken up the fallen mantel of the player we continue to be linked with for several Windows. Doesnt feel like he is top of our list

Sterling - weve had talks with Chelsea. They want a permanent deal. We want a loan. Sterling willing to reduce his wage. In guessing this one is on the backburner for the time being, hopefully because we prioritize other targets

These are the main links of still active rumors, unless Ive forgotten someone. We look like we are getting two wingers

H4usuallysitting

Can we all chip in.... I want to see the name Kevin on a Fulham shirt
