As for Taremi rumours, I don't mind them - he's similar ilk to Raul, but Raul is better.

The risk is you are going into a season with 33 and 34 year old strikers - both of similar style, which reduces your plan B or option off the bench.

Plus, it makes it harder to spend that money next summer, as everyone knows you need a younger forward. A few options:

Arokodare would be ideal - and fits the Nigerian group that we have, so would adapt and have friends around him from International games. 6'5, scores all sorts of goals and would be moulded by Silva.

Marcos Leonardo - Al Hilal - Super talent, but someone completely different to what we are used to.

Lucas Stassin - Cultured forward, would work under Silva, 20 and loads of room to grow

Mikautadze - Georgian forward, different type to what we have, great finisher and Lyon need cash.

Artem Dovbyk - Wanted by Everton, Leeds and Sunderland - Available at 37m, a lot of money but a seriously good forward.

Quote from: Hugh Janus on August 14, 2025, 08:15:16 AMI'm still not convinced he is off. I just cannot fathom a club like Atalanta wanting him.

They got El Bilal Toure in for £25 million after he had one decent season (scoring 7 goals) in La Liga after selling Hojlund. He hasn't worked out but paying an extra £5-10 million for someone who has managed similar numbers two seasons in a row after a major cash injection from selling Retegui (who scored 7 goals the season they signed him) isn't that far out.

Quote from: ffc_forever on August 14, 2025, 07:12:25 AMThat's 9 assists in 1887 minutes across all competitions (using Transfermarket data) or one every 210 minutes, a better assist rate than any Fulham player managed last season. Now to be clear I would not be a fan of signing Taremi, for a number of reasons, but he was quite productive from an assist standpoint last season.

Guessing those that are dismissing Taremi don't follow Italian football or Taremi for that matter before writing him off. Firstly he has two quality strikers in front of him at Inter in Martinez and Thuram. So has been played out of his position when he does get minutes. Also like most strikers he needs consistency/confidence and plays better when his manager supports him (MS will do this) his goalscoring never dropped for his national team where he was backed and supported. For those saying he is just a back up or 3rd choice are in for a shock as he is much more than that and is more like the Mitro we've never replaced.

He already gets bonus points for the over head kick against Chelsea (if you not seen it watch it).

As a matter of fact, I'm a big fan of Italian football, as there are always quite a few Serbian players there, and I watch a lot of games. I've also been a big Taremi fan ever since his Porto days.

You can find my posts in this thread, I was all for singing him as a 3rd choice striker. I think he would have been a perfect 3rd choice option. If we keep Muniz, I'd still love it if he came here. What I wouldn't like is, if he was the Muniz replacement. At this stage if his career, I don't believe he's good enough to play as many minutes as Muniz did and be as efdeeas him. Plus we'd have a striking force of a 34 year old and a 33 year old, which is pretty poor as well.

Would be happy with a number of these, Dovbyk might well be available but at an inflated fee basically for what we'd get for muniz. Follow Roma and not sure if he's in the manager there's plans tbh, but he had a decent if not spectacular year in a bit of a disjointed Roma team.

Good finisher with a nack of getting in good positions, not overly mobile though, more mitro than muniz. Great in Spain if course prior.

I'd rather Sterling as a striking option to Taremi.

I'd rather keep Muniz, if it is a supposed like-for-like striker switch.

I'd like Kevin independently and ideally without any outgoings.

We need two wingers, one striker and an attack minded CM who can score goals/be a goal threat.

If Muniz were to leave, we'd need two strikers.

As said, I don't want to lose Muniz. He's 24 and has shown he's got more than enough quality and potential at his age to develop into a very good player for us.

If anything I'd like us to sign Muniz to a longer term bumper contract, bring in Sterling, Kevin and Nelson.. and then a CM with goals in them.

According to Fulhamish we're the fourth most pessimistic fans in the Country at the moment..Wonder Why. :slap:

The thing about Taremi is he was a late bloomer - he didn't play in the European Leagues until 2019-20, and then went on to score more than 20 goals per season 4 years running. His scoring record at international level is comparable to Mitrovic. Despite being 3 years older than Mitro, he's played about 70 less career games, and doesn't seem to have had many injury lay-offs. So when we refer to him as 33 years old, the context is important. He's been a bit part player for the past season and I think he will be motivated to make an impact in a new team and a new league. I'm not against the signing itself. I could well see him being a bit like Danny Welbeck for Brighton, a player that belies the received wisdom of Brighton going for young talents. But I don't think we can expect him to be a supersub; he would need a run of games as starter to build understanding with his teammates, and he won't get that while Raul is no. 9.

My concern is really about Raul Jimenez. I don't think we can expect a full season of 90 minutes from him. He's barely had a break. He runs out of steam in most games as it is. He needs someone fast and strong to compete with him. He also really needs quality service, and delivery of the ball early into the box. I expected him to be phased out as the starter this season, and if we sell Muniz, that's not going to happen.

Blimey - there are 3 sets of more pessimistic fans??? I guess Brentford, West Ham, and maybe Newcastle.

Quote from: SerbianLad on August 14, 2025, 12:13:51 AMI don't believe we'd sell Muniz and have Taremi as a replacement. I'd love Taremi, but as a 3rd choice striker. He's 33 and he scored 1 league goal all season last year. 3 in all competitions. I said I'm currently against Mitro coming back, but surely he's a much better option if we sell Muniz and want to go for a cheap replacement?

If we were to sell Muniz (and I still hope we won't), I want us to spend big on a new striker. Someone who's in his mid 20s preferably.

This.

The main thing that concerns me (if Muniz goes) that implies Taremi won't be third choice here is:

WHY would you agree to leave Inter's bench (he played in 43 games last season for them) to reduce your €106/week contract, miss out on CL football, to come and sit on Fulham's bench on less money, unless you're being told you're coming in as starting striker/competing with Raul for starting spot?

If he comes in I cannot see us spending anywhere near big money on another younger striker to develop/ compete, or even a Richarlison type.

No way he comes as a third choice, so I hope he doesn't come full stop.

I was hoping we were going to be the 5th but then perhaps I am being optimistic

Muniz is 24 what age does potential stop and just not quite getting there start, he not benching a 34 year old? What is to good to turn down for someone that might not be what we hoped?

Not that it's important, considering I don't belive we'll replace Muniz with Taremi and if Muniz leaves, I'd hope we spend big on a replacement rather than going for a cheap alternative like Taremi/Mitro, but I don't think his international record is as good as Mitro's. He's got a got international record, but he plays in AFC and not UEFA and the standard of teams there is much lower. He also plays for one of the best AFC teams in Iran, which can't be said with Serbia and UEFA. And even with that, he's scored less goals and less goals per game. Superb international record, but a tier below Mitro.

I agree with the second point. I think Muniz showed signs during the second half of last season that he is starting to be good enough to be a regular starter. I would expect him to improve even further this year and hopefully towards tge end of the season, he'll push Raul to the bench permanently. My preference is still to keep Muniz. If Atalanta came in with some crazy offer (70+ million or something like that) then we'd have to sell, otherwise I'd keep him.

Just over 48 hours until we kick off & just a reserve keeper signed so far  ::scarf::

But unlike a lot of clubs having transfer issues Who have we actually lost that made an impact last season compared to say "Hounslow and Boscombe"

I think Marco has been a bit more Conservative in how he uses Muniz than he needs to be. Muniz's stats are pretty solid now and for minutes per g/a.

It'd be good to see what he's like with a proper full season behind him.

Look, jiminez is particularly strong for his age and is almost reborn since his injury.

I also think purely looking at people based on their age is overly reductive.

It's become pretty typical to refer to Raul by his age, Salah for example is 33 and making the same argument about how can someone of X age not replace him at 33 seems fairly absurd; why has it become so accepted to do it here with Raul.

Analyse the player, not just the age when it comes to performance. I understand it with recruitment because of resale etc; but on the pitch it doesn't make sense.

I would say Brentford has lost players, whereas Bournmouth has actively sold players for profit with a view to reinvesting

Probably because Liverpool have a pipeline of players and investment in a longer term strategy of sucession. Fulham on the other hand don't, with that in mind the age statement becomes more of a topic!
