1) Don't get political or be horrible to anyone because this is the happy thread

2) You can talk about anything you like (that contradicts the first rule but so what.....IT'S MY RULES!!!!!

Took my team out for our Xmas Do last night at Wahacas in One New Change. A good time was had by all. Even me. The food wasn't all that, but the Sol went down well and the company was good.

I will start to feel even more festive once White JC adds the Xmas emoticons to our vast selection  :wine:

I need a new home jersey.  My daughter has unofficially claimed mine.  I'd order a new one but the problem is neither her nor I like the orange on the current one.  Sure hope they go back to a more traditional one next season.

of all their shirts this season (just my opinion of course)

I prefer the black away kit, Fulham should stick to that as first choice, as apart from the all white kit we had 2/3 years ago, as far as I remember all our home kits have been too plain, bland, uninspiring and boring.

They probably paid someone who has never played football in their lives a small fortune to design it, but for the club to accept it as a kit for the players to wear is beyond comprehension.

Think the badge is a sign of where everything has gone, commercially more recognisable and modern. I don't mind the new one but do like seeing the old one about.

Mine at the moment is a mug with the moomintroll adventure on that cost me more than I was expecting in Edinburgh.

Yes i reckon it can, we have to stand firm and be resilient, no surrender, I cannot foresee a 5 0 reverse, but I suppose we are talking about Fulham, a draw at Elland Road, would be a result, but on the basis we can score goals, so nothing would surprise me, if we don't concede, then we have a great chance of grabbing all three points. So whatever the score, we have to keep it going.

You're making me share my dark side now Mrs!!!! Ok, look I'm not proud of it but my favourite mug has strictly come dancing on it. My daughter bought it at the live show tour thingy they do and ive adopted it. It's the right size for me because I'm not a big hot drink lover. (Most of my mugs are super dad etc and are all far too big for my liking). I could just use the dad mug and fill it half way but I have a fondness for that mug now.

There I said it and I live with 3 girls so before you ask. Yes I watch strictly. I'm not proud but I could think of worse.

So whilst your all out on the pi#s after attending the cottage, I go home with a cup of hot chocolate in my strictly mug, with a Chinese and watch x factor and strictly.

Even if they did win on penalties "they may have won the battle but they didn't win the war".

Shouldn't joke about these things but I thought it was quite quick from me to think of it.

We can keep this thread going even if they appoint Kiraly as director of football tomorrow.  Just look already in one day how well everyone is getting along. This is a team effort and if somehow we can think of enough things to talk about through to Xmas day without arguing, that proves you are all a bunch of great people and hopefully you question why you argue anyway.

This is much more enjoyable when we all get along! So if your angry tomorrow and the result is poor, let off your steam somewhere else. Shout at the wife, attack a stranger, do what you've gotta do to calm down and dannyboi will carry the flag until your ready to come back and this thread will be waiting for you on the front page with open arms.

If anyone argues on a thread your not allowed to argue on, then that shows you aren't a team player and you don't love Fulham.

Now you just have a think about that filham, you think on it........

But Danny have you got a Mug with a picture of that Mug Magath on it ? it could be worth a fortune in years to come.

Wouldn't be practicle as a mug design as Magath couldn't get a handle on anything

There is a question that has troubled me from when I was a child. In the 1914 Christmas football match between Allies and Germany, did we win on penalties?

It was abandoned
Yes there was a pitch invasion

Well this week after we lose at Leeds I'm hoping to see the New Hobbit film..... even if it's rubbish it Legolas in it.
I just love the Dwarf song in the first film when they are in bag end, very stirring.

I once went to the museum in the little Scottish town of Nairn. Interestingly, it was the home town of John Hanning Speke who was the co-discoverer, along with Somebody Burton, of the source of the Blue Nile. This museum was putting on a Dr Who exhibition which had a display case of things like Dr Who dinky cars etc.

Anyway, the thing that caught my eye was a ceramic mug (getting back on topic) with the words to the Dr Who theme music printed on it. Ah, didn't think it had words thinks you, well I can tell you that it has and these are they: dumba da dum dumba da dum dumba da dum dumba da dum dumba da dum dumba da dum WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

I rather liked that.

Danny is doing a good job keeping this going on his own. Anyway, boxing day Fulham story, was anyone else at the match. Chelsea at Stamford Bridge...arrived an hour early, got in 20 minutes late. Nowhere near enough turnstiles open. Pitch is a quagmire, Besty had the crap kicked out of him and did not reappear after 1/2 time. I had to stand on a rusty oil drum so I could see anything. Witnessed a thug Chelsea supporter assault someone. Lost 2-0 I think. What a bloody nightmare day out. Happy xmas.  Anyone else at the game????

Remember going to Lincoln City away in the mid 90's on boxing day and we got thumped 4-0. Simon Morgan admitted in his book that it was the only game he ever played and just didn't want to be on the pitch so didn't try. It was icy and not ideal for football.....not that we played much of that in those days!! Happy Xmas. Anyone else at the game????

The brilliant Jackson Browne has just been touring Britain, though  I sadly missed  seeing him.

He's a great, very underrated songwriter, I think, and I posted this  video on a music thread started by Burt some time ago.

It's a sad, though also uplifting , song I think - but I find it appropriate for this time of year, when we sometimes think of those we have lost -but life goes on.

Funny enough was discussing with my better half a thread where someone stupidly said that the game against Watford was the worst he had ever seen in 50 years of supporting the club and was correctly shot down by posters remarking about the 80's and 90's games,my wife straight away cited the Lincoln  game as the worst that she had ever witnessed by Fulham

My first car was a Ford Anglia, 1954. Lovely car, dark green and polished up a treat. Only problem was if it was raining, the wipers stopped working if you went up a hill. Apart from that.....

My knowledge and experience doesn't cover the 80s or a lot of the 90s. I was there but it's hard to take in how bad a game is when your a child.

Anyway even I wouldn't say Watford was the worst.  I think the lowest point of my Fulham days has to be losing at home to Sheffield utd in the cup last year. I don't think I've ever been that deflated and depressed. The whole night was torture

Right a thread within a thread:

I love mugs and will just buy one because I like it
Question, what is your favourite ceramic mug and why?

Mine at the moment is a mug with the moomintroll adventure on that cost me more than I was expecting in Edinburgh.

Well this week after we lose at Leeds I'm hoping to see the New Hobbit film..... even if it's rubbish it Legolas in it.
I just love the Dwarf song in the first film when they are in bag end, very stirring.

just back from Leicester square, the only place to see it! two Asian BLOKES next to me were in tears!that's all I'm saying Clare

Emmmm....a dark ending?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'll take a punt the elf women dies or the Dwarf she fancies. Mind you none of that is in the book so I may be wrong

We ( I ) have not seen the movie yet but we are planning on seeing it.  One thing I hate now a days is the tendency for movies or tv series to have dark endings.  Things like killing off main characters or heros.  There is enough bad things in the world so when I see movies I rather like my happy endings.

:yay: On Monday afternoon a local cinema is showing back-to-back-to-back of all three movies (3D & HFR)!!!  Guess who will be there?....ME & the Family!!!  YIPPPEEE!!  :yay:    :merry christmas:

Merry Christmas misfitkid

My first car was a Ford Anglia, 1954. Lovely car, dark green and polished up a treat. Only problem was if it was raining, the wipers stopped working if you went up a hill. Apart from that.....

First car? Vauxhall Viva HB 1159cc. Modified for maximum speed by lightening the weight (inner wings rusted to bu**ery)! Turquoise pile of junk..... but it was all mine!

There is a question that has troubled me from when I was a child. In the 1914 Christmas football match between Allies and Germany, did we win on penalties?

It was abandoned
It was stopped because fighting broke out in the crowd.  9739.gif

I wonder if the individual who designed the shirt, was the same culprit who designed the badge.

Not trying to be awkward here but I like both the shirt and the badge. To me what is inside of them is more important.

I can see why the older generation wouldn't like our badge but apart from the coat of arms before this one, I never saw us wear the others, at least I don't remember them anyway.

As a result I really like our badge, it's what I'm used to. I would even say it's one of the most recognisable badges in England from a distance, the FFC stands out so much that people know who we are straight away. Unless they don't know football of course. How many other clubs begin with F? I don't think there is anyone else in the football league other than Fleetwood town but let's be fair, you'd think of Fulham first I HOPE lol.

I admit the other badge is more personal and traditional but as long as we keep he cottage forever and never lose who we are, I don't see the big deal with the badge being how it is. Other parts of our heritage are more important in my opinion.

My second car was a Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 SRi, which by contrast was a nut job of a car for one so young.

Even more reason to keep this going through until Xmas day.

Thank you sir,

That mug sounds very creative, I quite like cats.

We tried having a dog but it was hard work trying to train a puppy. We gave her away to a lovely family who had experience with dogs. I grew up with a cat and they are so much easier to train.

I found the dog tied us down too long and it wasn't fair on the dog. All worked out in the end though.

Anyway next topic......

Dogs or cats? Which is your preference?

Cats. Got one knocked out on my lap just now.

My wife's family cat, who lives with her mum. 19 years old so she's seen better days (the cat) and isn't in the best of states, but will hopefully get through another Christmas.

A crew of firemen (including a Fulham fan) were called to a cat with its head trapped in a railing. The owner, a sweet little old lady was very concerned but the firemen reassured her that all would be well: "just go and make us a cup of tea and by the time you get back, we'll have the cat free". So she went away and one of the firemen simply applied his cig lighter to the appropriate part of the cat's rear anatomy and - hey presto! It was free.

I remember my old dad telling me about something that happened just before WW2: Allegedly he was in a cafe near the Elephant with some blokes who worked for 'The Gas, Light and Coke Company' and a cat kept going round rubbing against their legs.  One of the blokes didn't like this and put his index finger in the mustard pot, and then stuck it up the cat's bum.  I was told the cat took off like a rocket, did three laps of the cafe walls like a wall of death rider, and was last seen as a streak of light doing 90mph up the road!  Allegedly!

If this thread makes it to Xmas day (which it will because when everyone else gets bored, I will just have a conversation with myself). I dare you to go to the Brighton game dressed as an elf! And I'll be there to check!

Merry Christmas to everyone EXCEPT those who work for 'Ealth and Safety! I live very near to the hill (cliff!) where each year we hold the world famous cheese rolling competition. Hundreds turn up each Spring bank holiday to watch lunatics run down a very steep hill chasing a cheese - OK so there's a lot of in-breeding on Gloucestershire! (although people come from all over the world). The winner gets (you guessed it) - a Double Gloucester cheese!! Ambulances used to wait at the bottom to collect the wounded and ship them off to A&E, then two years ago the event was made 'unofficial' by Health and Safety so the ambulances did not turn up and we had to use cars to ferry those with broken bones (I think that year there was only one who was a spectator who fell out of a tree!). Then this year, in a further attempy to stop it, the police threatened to charge the 90 year old woman who made the cheese!! So we used a plastic one. Not sure how they will try to stop us next year. Health and Safety - humbug!!

Total humbug and even they can be dodgy if they get stuck in your throat.

Shortly after they introduced those credit card machines where you have to type your number in, I handed my card to the cashier in the normal way and was told I had to put it in myself due to "health and safety". Credit cards aren't that heavy and it was before the days of Ebola.

My dad once bought my mum a new cooker for her birthday. She didn't seem too happy with it - there's no pleasing some people.

Anyway, three months later she got really upset when the electricity bill arrived with the first HP instalment on it - he'd only paid the deposit!

For christamas we are having salt beef, red cabbage and mashed potato for lunch plus sprouts of course.
it has become our tradition

we will have christmas pud and for those that do not like the pud (the heathens) I shall make crepe filled with fressh fruit that I will flambe.

As a starter I will most likely serve smoked salmon with a few leaves and some cherry tomatoes, preferably three colours, red green and yellow.

My question is custard or cream with the pud, i will have both available but wonder what your preference is?

actualy such things do exist.... not perfect but you get a slopping glass or perspex shiel. However if you have a poor aim then you are still in trouble.

It was a hardtop, springtime yellow, power steering and AC. Very high end I believe for those days but it was 13 years old by the time I got it but it was excellent shape as it had been owned by a woman in her 60's who had driven it with care. Dumbest thing I ever did was get rid of that car. It had the 289 V8, so good power but the front end of those cars were horrible, IMO, compared to cars of these days. Cornering was soft...and not in a good way!

I don't think the Fastback option came out till 67, but I could be wrong.

I went to a nightclub when I was 18 and very naive, we couldn't get in anywhere down the west end because I was wearing a Hackett top and it was against their dress code. Anyway we ended up getting into a club called abrakadabra (the magicians word), none of us noticed anything strange even though it was star in us in the face. I guess we were just pleased to have got in somewhere.

Anyway to cut a long story short I decided to go to the toilet for a slash only to discover that the urinals had lips!!!!!

We left quietly after that.....

Charing Cross used these big sheet metal urinals, like the Hammy End. Me and my mate had been on the lash one night (bar crawl around Covent Garden and the Strand) and it was a freezing early morning, we started peeing and the heat of the urine made the very cold metal expand with a flipping type of sensation which sent the pee back towards us.

Strange moment...

A bit late now by the sounds of it, but echinacea is a herb that relieves cold symptoms. Two tablets a day seem to ease things once you have a cold and,  if you take one a day if you're around people with colds, it's amazing how often you get away without catching it.

As you already have a runny nose, treat yourself to a hot curry and go for a run (not at the same time tho)

Anyone got a cure for a runny nose that is doing a favourable impression of the Niagra Falls?

Bowl of hot water, towel over head and sniff up the steam for about
10mins, then have a good blow..

Go to bed with a hot totty.

where do i find a hot totty? hope she's a nice gal?

failing that, try a hot toddy, lol

Good question
I imagine/think it was generally the case for london clubs that support was not necessarily from the immediate vicinity especially as transport became easier.. I have loads of friends who support the arse or spurs but are born and bred south london/surrey.
I also think nowadays, there seems to be far less community based loyalty, in that children support who they see on TV or who are successful.... my children were never ever given the option of supporting a non Fulham based team playing by the river thames in white (how i hate the grey stripes!).
I wonder how many that support fulham, that were originally from fulham, still live in fulham.

Of all of the friends that I grew up with in Fulham, about 95% of them support either Fulham or Chelsea. One supported QPR, one supported Spurs then shifted to Ipswich after the 1987 cup final against Coventry, and another supports Liverpool, but he'd moved to the area from Wales.

I've always found exercise kicks my cold into touch. Not everyone can do that at the varying ages on this board but after 60-90 mins five a side the cold has gone and lead legs has set in. If that's not your cuppa then tiger balm clears the sinuses. In boiling water or on your chest.

Doesn't sound at all nice and I am sure many of us have had weight loss through ailment and it doesn't last, but....
In all seriousness i have just lost a bit over two stone in just about five months
The secret is, eat less and be more disciplined.
I cut out all sncking between meals, no second helpings or 'straightening the edge' or 'cleaning the last bit out the bowl' no alcohol (none!!!), smaller portions.
and a bit more exercise and miraculously eating less works.

i doubt that.......

But as the y say seriously.... on the day i started something clicked in the head and now I am full of evangelic zeal for the don't eat task. I look at food but can't eat it if it is at the wrong time or is the wrng sort. I think i am begining to understand the people with eating disorders who become fanatical and obsessed. it wont happen to me because if i can manage another two stone (fingers crossed i keep my discipline) then I will revert to a more relaxed attitude and i am looking forward to a Mojito or two to celebrate the conclusion.

the trick will be to keep it off and under control.

Recent studies published in the Wall St. Journal tested two groups of lab rats. Once group were fed Oreos and the other cocaine. The response in the the pleasure zones of their brains were identical. Sweet fatty food is definitely addicting and many people have no control.......but they didn't have to test rats to convince me of that!

Good luck Nose. What you are doing takes amazing willpower.

I hate cars and I can't think of anything more boring. For that reason alone i'd rather finish off Jeremy Clarkson and topgear before Russell Brand but he's near the top of the hit list.

I can suffer a world cup final if england are playing if it's a one day game which I think they are, I can half watch the FINAL match of a ashes series if there's something riding on it but other than that I can't think of anything more boring and pointless. They never seem to stop playing.

Mine would be
1) formula one
2) top gear
3) cricket
4) Chelsea against anyone big (park the bus)
5) watching paint dry.

Yes, NASCAR and Indy-car - 500-600 laps around an oval track. At least in Formula 1 you have to turn in BOTH directions.

And note to Mr. Ridge -- naughty naughty on the trashing of cricket. Anyone addicted to butt butter should never throw stones!

Does everyone have a traditional Xmas dinner on Xmas day? Come on there must be someone who likes to be different.  Me and the Mrs have this argument ever year,  she insists but I'm not too bothered. At the end of the day a roast is a roast. We have one most Sundays so what's new......

And then she buys pigs in blankets and I give in...... heaven

Does everyone have a traditional Xmas dinner on Xmas day? Come on there must be someone who likes to be different.  Me and the Mrs have this argument ever year,  she insists but I'm not too bothered. At the end of the day a roast is a roast. We have one most Sundays so what's new......

And then she buys pigs in blankets and I give in...... heaven

My wife and I are spending our first Christmas alone together, not bothering to go see family this year, so we are coming up with some of our own traditions.  We are having Prime Rib as the main course, and both of us have come up with two sides each to cook for the table - should be a delicious (or disastrous!) meal.

Anyone else have an interest in aeronautics, or is a pilot on this board? Military or civilian, no matter which. Only a few days left until Xmas!

It's a very expensive "give it a go" these days, only when to do it financially is either through the military or aeronautical degree grants/scholarships.

I try to be unconventional - clearing the compost heap in the morning then curry for lunch. One year we had a Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianium) with lights on instead of a tree and always put a witch on a broomstick on top instead of a fairy.

Checked in at the local Indian earlier this week enquiring after a takeaway for Thursday and was told "sorry, we're shut, it's chrismas". I thought they were meant to be Hindus. Will have to get one the day before and microwave it.

Well I'm a veggie, so don't do Roast Turkey (although the kids do) but I absolutely love Red Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Parsnips etc. Normally have a Lentil Roast, and Ms notsnarks is a brilliant cook.

(I'm salivating already)

I tend to be able to eat anything. But I was once given a nut roast to eat and found the smell alone made me want to be ill. I like nuts to eat and to talk to. But a nut roast just sent me over the edge.

We generally have a Boiled Egg and an Oxo Cube, if were lucky.

Ah the Yorkshire joke!! You had Oxo cubes? You were lucky. We had to make do with a picture of the Oxo plant and some discarded eggshells.

Nuts and veg roasted sometimes with cheese. The problem is it can be very rich. It put me off vegetarian food for years. Although ironically I love veg sausages now.

What a solid victory. That was a TEAM win today, not any individual player saving out bacon.

We need to get LVC on a contract today, he is going to be swooped from our grasps by scum like Spurs or Liverpool if we don't take care of it now.

Cooking a turkey is as simple as opening a beer. Wash the turkey and pat dry. Chop some onion & add to the cavity with salt & pepper. Rub the entire outside with your choice of butter or olive oil. I use a garlic olive oil. Put in a brown paper grocery bag, close the end and place in the roasting pan on a grate. Cook the time & temp suggested on the turkey. You can even run a little longer without fear of drying it out. The turkey will self baste and come out golden brown and moist. Rip the bag off and set the turkey aside. Use the drippings & giblets to make your gravy, carve and enjoy.
As a side note, I like to slice the breast off whole and than cut diagonally to serve.
No, the paper bag will not catch fire unless you put it into contact with your heat source.
Really, it works quite nicely.   xmascheer1

Thumping victories are great and all but, let's keep our priorities straight here:

1) Helping to keep Dannyboi's thread going for another 5 days
2) Celebrating with victory/good performance related posting
3) Blingo's sarcastic fire Kit and transfer out last game's star performer threads
3) Peabody jokes <------ been a bit of time since the last one  092.gif
4) Whatever Mince and Tatties wants to post about - I just like that seeing that name, no matter the content
5) Continuing our search for the missing "The sky is falling..." posters
.
.
.
much much further down
.

.
Not getting too overly bothered one way or the next as this should continue to be an up...with a bit of down from time to time....season.

I usually due a brined rotisserie turkey on the grill for Christmas but I'm traveling this year and have no idea what the family will be doing for a Christmas dinner.  The joy of the unknown.

Went to a wine/cheese tasting tonight with the misses.  Have to say the best wine of the night was a nice Spanish Rioja while the best cheese of the night was a nice Welch aged cheddar.  Left with a case of the red and a nice block of the cheddar.  Think they'll be fantastic for Christmas day.

Face Book Question:

I'm quite new to Facebook and only really got it so that I could look at the FOF Facebook page. Well I'm not that clued up on how to allow  people to see things, especially as I mostly use it to post interesting articles etc. I want to share.

My question is:

We had our works Chrimbo meal Friday , a friend of mine posted some pictures. I wanted to share one of them with the rest of my other friends and family, so went into the picture and pressed share and added a comment. I then went into my timeline to see who could see it and not all my friends could, only ones that were also friends with the guy who had taken the photo. In the end I saved the photo to my PC, then created a post of my own and uploaded the photo I saved from my PC. After I had done this all my Friends could see it.
How does it work then, if I share a post or photo that belongs to a friend, can only their friends see it, is it a special setting they have set up?

Ta

When I pinch or share from other peoples posts then everybody on my friends (both of them) sob can see it. Others peoples photos may be down to what their privacy settings ARE. It is all down to what people want to share and what settings they have. Easy enough to change but people seldom bother. I am sure if you click on your name at the top then you will see a place to change or check settings. However if your friend has the settings only for their friends then his photos will only be available to their friends.

You're starting to worry me with these threats lol. You mentioned this a week ago. To be honest I can't believe it's lasted this long.

Turns out it was my most successful thread created which sums me up really.  Over 2000 posts and I'm remembered for the pointless post counting down till xmas. Oh not to forget my analysis of humpty dumpy which still baffles me.....

Lol I think I'll make it an annual December thread considering how successful it's been but I think starting on the 1st jan is a bit optimistic.

Mind you it would give the silly transfer window thread a run for its money I reckon.

I think being at work in the few days before Christmas should be banned.

I'm getting about as much done as I would be sat on my arse at home, except I've had to drive really far to get nothing done.

Now next week, when most people apart from me are off....... if a tree falls in the forest but no-one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Mine would either be Boston United ( when they were in league 2), Basel, Or East Fife.

Deano the weirdest experience for me was Juventus away at Torino's ground.  The atmosphere and scenery outside was very hostile, I suppose like a normal European match in Italy.  The stadium was very bare and soul less just like how it feels on the TV when I watch champs league games outside of England.

The tall barriers separating the fans and at the front to stop you getting on the pitch was a very strange experience.  We were escorted back to the airport straight after fulltime by so much police and security,  you would've thought it was the queen on our coaches or at least a club with a bad reputation. It felt very weird to see Fulham in that kind of situation.Where as hamburg didn't feel like that.  Yes it was in the middle of a forest but Torino's ground was definitely the stranger experience of the two.

No ground in England has ever been as odd as that and ive been to 50 I reckon

Ground would have to be Eastleigh FC's before they were in the conference, watched them play Southampton in a pre season friendly.

The goalkeeper for Eastleigh reminded me of the pictures I had seen of "fatty" foulks in terms of his girth. They were the level below conference south at that time, so semi pro.

Haha haha great minds think alike. I was so tempted to put that when it was posted but thought better of it.

The dannyboi household has had a lovely day full of love and harmony but I'm about to get the trivial pursuit out............ cue the start of world war 3......... Mrs dannyboi gets very competitive and is heavily pregnant. This could get ugly

Lol the target can be whatever you want it to be. I'm not going to keep it going single handedly but if enough people care and continue to keep it alive, then it would be rude of me not to participate.

I can imagine some members being very frustrated by this thread lol
