Title: Video Games; Fifa, Football Manager 2012 etc
Post by: MrFantastic on August 19, 2011, 04:53:39 PM
This is about video games. Anything to do with video games write it on here. What system you have PC, PS3, Xbox360, Nintendo Wii. What games you have and play the most, what games you play online and if you want other people on here to play your games with you online and things like that.

I have ps3 and games i have for it are
Homefront
La Noire
Mafia II
FIFA 11

If someone has FIFA 11 and Homefront I play those online and if you have ps3 I will give you my online ID name if you want to play online.
I will probably buy Battlefield 3 and new FIFA

XBOX

Cricket 2011
Fight Night
FIFA

I only really play FIFA and my username is mitchmothffc if anyone wants a match. If you pick Madrid/Chelsea/Barcelona then you are a flipping loser.

Much love

I am very old so probably don't belong here. But you say you have Mafia 2. I remember Mafia 1 on PC being a great game. I have played it right through three or four times. When the second came out people said it was a better looking game but without the game play and plot. Just wonder what you thought if you played the first one. The big problem does seem to be game play now as the plot lines seem to be missing.

The Thing and Mafia were great favourites on PC. I haven't the dosh to pay out on game consuls that look good but give little else.

I have played Mafia I on pc great game that is why i bought the second one. I expected more from the second one. But it was basically the same like first only better graphics. That would be good game back maybe two years ago but now people want more from games. Only thing you can do while not doing the missions is steal a car and kill people and collect things but they have this beautiful city made and nothing to do.

It depends what you like in a game it is not for everybody. It is not fast paced game and you actually play a detective where you find clues and question people. I suggest you go to youtube and search la noire xplay review to see if you might like it. But if you like fast paced game with a lot of shooting than don't buy this game but for me it was 9/10.

I would say out of 10, 9. Its a very good game that lasts a long time and its worth downloading the extra content.

I am wondering which to buy battlefield 3 or New Call of duty when they come out I cant buy both because i am buying new FIFA too and both battlefield and cod seem similar games. I like to play story mode of the game but will spend most of time playing online. So what do you think which is going to be better game to play online?

Add Man United and Inter to that list. I love beating them gloryhunters with Fulham, can't wait for FIFA 12 to do it with Wimbledon and Crawley.

Also,
Quoteboth battlefield and cod seem similar games.

No. Just no. MW3, a new perk and a new map? Wow, that's awesome. BF3 is the true game. Successor of one of the best ever FPS games BF2, needing teamwork and all to get to your objective unlike CoD where you just run around with a stupid gun with lots of stupid accessories.

That said, I have a Xbox 360. I have Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, some Rock Bands and Guitar Heros, CoD 4 and FIFA 11 among others. FIFA 11 is really the only game I play at the moment, I'll buy FIFA 12 the moment it comes out. I'll also probably buy BF3 for the computer.

I don't play as much as I used to anymore on the computer, but Football Manager 2011 is a cool scouting tool for all those players linked with Fulham.

I never played Football Manager but if you can win with Cambridge United than is not realistic game. I know the game is about picking and managing the players but maybe there is an easy mode you played on cause if you can win with that team than i don't know.

I have Wii and find it ok and the other half can use it as well, the boxing is a good workout really. Use it for family games and golf as well. I don't have PS or Xbox because tbh i'm crap at most games.
As for FM I have given up on it since the last one, far too long to play a season and really only good to look up the names of any player we are linked with.

It did take about 12 seasons of long hard slog up through the leagues (a bit like Fulham, really) and eventually you end up playing with entirely fictional players because all the real ones are past it.  Good fun though but getting my insomnia sorted out was infinitely better.  I very much doubt I'd have the patience for that now.

Have an xbox and too many games to list really. Re. LA Noire i would give it 7/10 as it really started dragging on a bit towards the end for me personally. Wanna recommend Bastion on XBLA as well, finished it the other day and it is def worth the 1200 ms points.

Also play quite a bit on the PC, mainly Team Fortress 2 atm, cant beat it for FPS fun.

Yea you are right about La Noire at the end they had some dumb missions that no real detective would do. I think they could have added things to do in the game they had the beautiful city with nothing to do like play cards or pool and stuff like that. I gave it a 9/10 cause I never played a game like that and the beginning of the game was fun at the end they could had have some more realistic cases to do. But overall i enjoyed the game.

Teams that I regularly play as in FIFA are of course Fulham, CSKA Moskva, FC Kobenhavn and Schalke. I usually try different three or four star teams, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos are both pretty good, as is Lech Poznan. Man City and Zenit are probably the biggest teams I play as, I hate five star teams. Some times I even go Huddersfield or Leeds. You could say I'm pretty much always the underdog. And I like them long shots (Poznan, CSKA and Huddersfield).

I love playing derby matches on FIFA. We play PSG vs Marseille a lot and Boca vs River Plate. I find that when I play as the top sides that I think the players are like super players so they can do unreal through passes etc which usually sees me losing the ball like never before. When I play as a average-good side, I'm more focused on passing, ergo I play better. Absolutely love FIFA although I wish they would improve the single player career mode.

I play fifa with bayern and fulhama and sometimes cagliari, parma, man city. If someone takes top teams than i take bayern or man city. But sometimes i take fulham and i have beaten some people that took barcelona but they usually quit. I think there should be something done about quitting like if you quit 5 times in a month you can no longer play fifa online for like 20 days. I hate people that quit at the end when we are about to get our xp points and then say the game was over i didn't quit. There should be also a thing online to forfit the game by the score that is already in game so if someone doesn't play well can quit and the other player still gets the points. Anyone on here plays 11v11 online teams i am looking to join one team for new fifa coming out next.

I was looking to join a pro club but most teams had only like 5 players in them or so many that I couldn't join anymore. I have ps 3 too so if you create a team I will join write name of the club. I will buy new FIFA too so if you are getting the new FIFA we can create a pro club on it too. It would be nice to get at least 9 or 11 people on a club. Maybe the name of the club could be FriendsofFulham.com or something like that. I also started a post about video games on here you can check it out some people left their ps3 id online names on there my online name is iouripukinalikin. i hope more people want to play with us.

Agree. As soon as you go 2-3 goals up against Barca they always quit. Whack it back to ultra defensive and break with 1-2's between Dembele and Zamora. EASY! Will give Lech Poznan a go on that recommendation.

In new FIFA they said there are no longer be a super pressure from defenders where you hold one button and run at people I think that will change a lot of those people that use barcelona and real to high pressure people lets face it those people that pressure should have players get tired more than those who don' like in a real game

As soon as people use the pressure system start using your one-two passes, that way they commit two players and you get acres of space.

Superb game mate!

I've got an XBox360. Games most played:

Red Dead Redemption
Arkham Asylum
Gears of War (both)
Oblivion (Can't wait for Skyrim to come out)
Mass Effect 2 (one of the best games I've ever played)
Dragon Age 2
Bioshock
Assassins Creed 2.

I bought LA Noire, played it, loved it, got bloody bored of the repetitive nature of the game, threw it out the window.

I've also been known to dabble in the odd MMORPG, mainly World of Warcraft, but I'm from the Diablo 2 generation and simply cannot wait for Diablo 3 to get released.

Just played our first two games as Friendsoffulham

started off with a 0-0 draw in which we dominated and could of won if it wasn't for a very solid gk on the other team. dissapointing not to win

in the second we lost 0-3... all three goals coming in the first half, could of nicked a few back in the second.

all in all was quite promising as it was only myself and zzamora.

Need some more of you lot to get involved and we can start winning some games

we need defenders. urgently. playing with 2 strikers is so hard, as the computer is rubbish. a midfield playmaker would be nice too!
but promising signs

I joined my name is iouripukinalikin i play RB  but if we don't get enough players i can play All but i think we should see who the best player is on the team and let him play All until we get more people to join. Once again people who have ps3 can join a proclub the name of the club is Friendsoffulham. We have 4 players i think now. Other thing we should do is to set up time when we are going to play so most of us can come and play. I live in USA east coast it is 6 hours difference from Europe so if we play at 5 o'clock in europe here it would be 11 at night yea.

I'm going to be on in the afternoon, I will play as the any if need be. Also my pro is actually a fairly decent GK and is rated 81 there so this could be useful because the computer controlled gk's are fairly poor. But I would prefer to be out on pitch. Somewhere on the left hand side. will be much easier with more than 2 so its looking better already

Playing Arkham Asylum at the moment until the new one comes out.

Still need to buy Killzone 3 and Starcraft II. FM ledge but that goes without saying.
i would seriously give kill zone 3 a miss. bought it from new, it was the most bugged game ive ever played. after 3 months of patches it was still broken and the new spawning system makes it impossible for a fair game.

Friendsoffulham fc score there first goal last night courtesy of zzamora. Mr fantastic also got one but overall a dissapointing set of results. I've decided I am going to set my pro to Gk as I am actually pretty solid there and then if we have an any and a few attacking players we should be much better. couldn't get in to Hattrick at all. I stick to www.soccermanager.com (http://www.soccermanager.com)

Although if you like cricket then www.battrick.org (http://www.battrick.org) will take up plenty of time at work, great little game.

Also recently got into www.batracer.com (http://www.batracer.com), a nice little racing sim.

As for console gaming I havnt dont much recently, used to play a hell of a lot of Call of Duty (check out my youtube channel for some old gameplay vids etc :D www.youtube.com/elgreenio (http://www.youtube.com/elgreenio)), and a lot of FIFA Clubs with guys who have over 500 subs and our main player who I think is bordering 10k (NepentheZ if you're interested)

10k as is his head to head stats? That's high! I'm about average ie level 27, wavering between 3500-3800.

Just played a bit of FIFA at lunch and here's the biggest issue with head to head - I pick Leeds, they pick Liverpool. I pick Brighton, they pick Real Madrid. People never want a fair game and I get incredibly bored of being Chelsea, hitting through ball and waiting for Drogba to force it in.

I've played Hattrick for about eight years now, despite all the stupid and obvious match engine problems I'm still playing it. No success though, currently in the sixth division.

Also a FIFA club on Xbox would be nice. Do we have enough players?

Two is enough for a game. I can set it up tonight about 6pm then send the details through on here. Can see whether the Xbox or PS3 guys can do better :P

Pre-ordered FIFA 12 and you get a couple of free ultimate team packs each month, should give a better head start. By the time I started before everyone had Ibra/Ronaldo etc and I had Luciano Bechio!

we need more players because those com players are not good and also for some reason my ps3 doesn't want to save my pro player progress sometimes. My player had 81 overall score but when i turned off my ps3 and than turned on it had 74 overall score. We have 4 player we need at least 4 more. I played online 1v1 and we were both good on that so we are good players but our com players on pro club are not as good as some teams we play against yea.

Ive trained my pro up so he is over 80 at centre back and in goal now. aswell as 84 on the left wing. So if need be I can play at the back to make up for the rubbish com players. It did help having an "any", im predicting a win very soon for friendsoffulham!

anyone on ps3 can join! would be good to get as many of you as possible. After all it is a bit of fun and makes a change from the normal fifa modes!

:011:  Wonderful summary there, my man.

Does that count as a second childhood then? Cos I never really stopped playing from the 80's, so, and this would be borne out by those 'clique' peeps that know my first name, I never really left my first childhood behind.

btw, just finished Resistance - fall of man, again, and all of the CoD's as well. If you want a game that stre-e-e-e-e-tches your mind, and sanity, try Echo Shift,or Portal 2.

Now, how do you play this FIFA12 thingy ..........

I play A TON of games, my favorites are

Forza 3
Red Dead Redemption
GTAIV
Call of Duty (any)
NHL 11
Madden
FIFA
Assassins Creed
Resident Evil 4
Super Mario Galaxy

Really looking forward to FIFA 12. Love the idea of affiliating with your favorite club and then FIFA will keep worldwide stats for everyone and compare against other clubs. Cant say we have much of a chance against people that will pick Manchester United or Barcelona but it'll still be interesting to see where Fulham supporters stack up.

From what I understand, you can use any team you wish but if your profile is associated with Fulham then it will go toward their rankings. Here's a good explanation http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1189541p1.html (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1189541p1.html)

PS3 and Wii. Wii is kind for redundant.

Games:
Fifa 11
Dead Scape (move download)
Killzone 3
NHL 11
GTA and an old Call of Duty.

Fifa is the only game that gets played.  I got the gun bought for me and Killzone 3 with the move.  Played it for about 1 hour and didn't take to it at all.  Am kidding myself as the only game I play is Fifa.

Would be very interested in a league or tournament if one is set up.

Got to be honest, if the new CoD is anything like the Black Ops one, then I'll give it a miss. They just haven't managed to get as good as the WaW4 or the MW2 in my opinion. Not played Battlefield at all, what's it like?

battlefield 2 i played was great is more of open world game in online play. You can use tanks and other vehicles. I will wait for reviews for the new battlefield they said it is much different than cod but the best way to see if it is any good is to wait for reviews of both games and to see videos of game play they have there

it is nothing like that, it basically is MW2 with some new features, you just have to look at any of the gameplay vids to realise that : MW3 GAMEPLAY - Village AS50 Acog - Spas-12 - MODERN WARFARE 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5Z80aSuv0k#ws)

As for Battlefield, well, it'll be a tight one this year but I cant see BF3 sustaining the numbers online that MW3 will

I quite like Black Ops, I think you just have to relax and have fun with it, I used to hate it and tried my balls off to get good scores but now I'm just like F' it and use rubbish classes and have fun with it.

I mainly play free for all as well, I find its a bit faster paced and less BS. Also Hardcore HQ is pretty damn fun.

But I can't wait for MW3, especially if the TAR21 is back.

Not sure what you mean LM, you referring to cut-scenes on campaigns?

Shame. Thanks for that website, looks like COD MW3 is going to be a mix between MW2 & Homefront (gun wise at least) loads of similar weapons and equipment.

To add a clique dimension to this thread. Here is where me and Airfix met: www.powersoccer.com (http://www.powersoccer.com)

A neat football game which, unfortunately, got a little bit more restrictive (i.e. no more free gameplay) over the last couple of months. Still, if you like a multiplayer it is still one of the best games out there. And evidently, you have its sister manager game, www.managerzone.com (http://www.managerzone.com) where you can find both me (called anonimuis there) and Airfix :)

Have tried quite a few manager games online but none seem to stick like www.soccermanager.com (http://www.soccermanager.com) does, may give that managerzone a try

Why you would pre-order the normal edition though I have no idea. Didn't really get into Ultimate Team, but this week I've been playing it and really enjoying it. I've got an all Brazilian 4-3-3 playing in the pink Galatasaray kit - nice. What do you think of -
Helton, Alves, Juan, Lucio, Marcelo midfield three of Motta, Gustavo, Ronaldinho and then Pato, Nilmar and Robinho up top?

That's true, don't know why. Galatasaray's included in the Rest of the World section though. Shame about them, always liked playing with Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce beating gloryhunter noobs.

The Turkish licensing laws are different now and they wouldn't allow FIFA to have the whole league.
I think the Czech league was just dropped as a quality sort of thing.

El, yep, the segway videos in BO, where they did questioning, and basically continued the storyline, got to be very tedious in the end. Its a little like Resistance FoM, when you go through it the first time, after that you can click past it all.

Anyways, thanks for the info and links, looking forward to MW3 with a passion now.

Has anyone played Spiderman? Just got it given to me by a mate who reckons its good, but haven't bothered loading it yet.

what game is going to be better new call of duty or battlefield 3 i don't want to buy both games i will wait for reviews to come there

Got to be honest, if the new CoD is anything like the Black Ops one, then I'll give it a miss. They just haven't managed to get as good as the WaW4 or the MW2 in my opinion. Not played Battlefield at all, what's it like?

it is nothing like that, it basically is MW2 with some new features, you just have to look at any of the gameplay vids to realise that : MW3 GAMEPLAY - Village AS50 Acog - Spas-12 - MODERN WARFARE 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5Z80aSuv0k#ws)

But I can't wait for MW3, especially if the TAR21 is back.
its a different hard core though isnt it. friendly fire rebounds on to yourself. preferred it when you killed your own playes, put more pressure on you to do it right

nah it can be done in around 30 hours. just keep a couple of back up saves as sometimes you do a side mission wrong and its gone forever. now if you want a truely epic game then the sequal to oblivion comes out soon SKYRIM. expect well over 100 hours game play and you still wont have seen everything

Its a quality game, no doubt.

Fulham is disappointing for me-Zamora may have finally got his 80 rating, but Baird (71) Briggs (61) Sidwell (75) and Sa (72) are all too low for me, considering Arshavin is rated 84.

Hughes at 76 is also too low.

We're still a 4.5 star team though. Sidwell's fine, Briggs is disappointing but he has potential in the game, agree with Baird. Sá's okay too IMO, he came on a free transfer from Porto, not wanted by them. He isn't Emile Heskey.

We're still lacking a proper right back in the game, unless you put Hughes there but then the central defence is a bit weaker with Senderos.

im stoked with fulham. I play a 3 - 4 - 1 - 2

-----------------------schwarz----------------------------
hughes---------------hangers-----------------------senderos/etuhu (depending on who im playing)
Duff-------murph---------------dembele------------Riise
-------------------------Ruiz--------------------------------
-----------Dempsey---------------Zamora---------------

works quite well for me, if im playing a team with slow wingers, i swap riise and duff so i can bring riise in on his left foot (his right is rubbish)

Ruiz is phenomenal on the ball, and if you're competent with the skill stick, dempsey is amazing with the chop move (Can also do with a fake shot)

really happy, been smashing all my mates who play as united/barcelona etc. its perfect.

I hope Briggs and Frei get updated in the next update though.

This is the best part of the new game. When you play xbox live/ps3 network the game matches you up by skill level, but also by the star rating of your club, so you avoid the idiots who can only play as Barca etc. Fulham are good enough if you are to beat Man Utd etc anyway!

I haven't played with Fulham yet and I haven't read the replies to this post. What I did notice though is that we are the 7th best team in the league. 4 and a half stars with Liverpool (obviously they have better players) and Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Spurs all have 5 star teams.
Title: Re: FIFA12
Post by: The King on October 01, 2011, 10:55:47 AM
Aren't Liverpool a 5 star team and aren't Everton also a 4.5 star team? That'd make us 8th. Still pretty good though.

And remember to choose Fulham in the support your club thingy, we're only 9th in the Championship at the moment.

Haha no, I havent played online yet, havent set it up in the new place. Cant wait though.

And yes King, that is with three CBs, but the reason i put Etuhu back there sometimes is if they have a quick forward, Hangeland is pretty fast, but if he gets beaten, Aaron and Senderos dont get back too well... I would like Jol to try it too, to be honest. Would be nice to see.

It was weird, when Fulham played vs Fulham all the special one and blonde players changed to have jet black hair! Not sure what that was all about.
I think Dembele, Dempsey and Ruiz all have 4* skills, so that should be fun for any skillers out there.

Like other's have said, I'm disappointed at some of the defenders ratings. Baird, Hughes and Senderos all should be a little higher.

But the worst one is Simon Davies who's only 74?!? That's criminal considering how important he was to our fight back last season and how good he's been consistently for the last 3/4 years

Would also of been nice to see Briggs, Frei and Gecov higher too.

What's up with the youth players? Frei, Burn, Marsh-Brown and Dalla Valle are all pretty low and then out of nowhere Richard Barroilhet - who has been nowhere near the first team and is currently playing in Finland - is rated seriously high? Have they got it mixed up or something??

A bit messed up IMO, but the game is quality.

One year EA will give us our alternative kit... One day!

Is anyone playing on PS3? Anyone want a game or has anyone got thoughts on making a club? Let me know!
Title: Re: FIFA12

The third kit not being released is the clubs fault. If the club don't confirm a design to the public for the start of the season, then EA won't know what it looks like and that sort of content has to go on the disc.

Frei has very high potential, as does Briggs and Kasami. No idea about Bar-whatshisname.

Davies is probably about right at 74. JAR is 77 and has done more than Davies ever has. Diego Milito is 81 as a comparable, so whilst they seem low, when you put it into context of how good players at say 80-82 then it makes more sense.

Agree that Gecov and Briggs could be higher, but when the game stats are prepared Briggs had played approx four games for Fulham (Arsenal twice, Chelsea and one other) and looked like he could go either way. Gecov was fairly unknown. Stat improvements need to be backed up with hard facts, stats or supporting video. For those sorts of players it's hard to get an accurate level. Also, it's worth noting that overall isnt the most important stat ie a striker could have 70 overall, but 90 pace and 85 finishing, so he'd still be a great player.

I've sent a request for Briggs to be updated for the next patch, focussing on Passing, Touch, attacking runs and crossing inparticular. He's still pretty weak in the tackle and loses focus occasionally. I'm only a reviewer, so I can only make suggestions, whereas the editors have the actual control.

If you've got your xbox live or ps3 set up you can automatically download the updates. No idea when they happen though.

It's really hard to defend on Legendary. Have had to rage quit every single time playing career mode as I conceed nearly every time the opponent gets the ball.

Doubt it. Grounds take up a lot of disc space apparently, so you have to be one of the chosen ones! Another season of playing at what looks like Griffin Park's ugly little brother unfortunately.

Honestly In my first game online I played as fulham and beat man utd 6-1 I find I always play well with fulham I think because we are so underrated but I'm happy with this team only the suspect) as mentioned briggs should be a 70 and Frei maybe a tad higher but its not as if these are going to make it into your fifa team. Title: FIFA 12 Career Mode
Post by: Luke on October 02, 2011, 08:19:33 AM
Just thought I'd set this thread up.
We could all chip in with signings that we have made that others might be interested in; and other info about how we play our Fulham team in career mode.
I started it yesterday and sold Duff for £4.1m and Johnson for £5m as well as others such a BH Riise. I also had an offer of £5m for Murphy but declined as time was running out in the window.
I've brought in Varela from Porto who cost me his market value £10.5m and what a player he is. Another addition to my team was Arbeloa from Real Madrid to fill the rather low RB position, he cost me £11m.
I play a VERY attacking 4-3-3, something like this
Schwarzer
Arbeloa     Hughes     Hangeland     Riise
Murphy

Dembele          Dempsey
Ruiz          Zamora          Varela

I know there's another FIFA 12 thread but I thought this could be dedicated to Career Mode, and we can help move FFC to the top of all of our FIFA tables!!  :clap_hands:

probably a retarded question. But how exactly do you header, I mean i know you have to time it etc, but the only goals I ever concede are headers and penalties. God forbid I concede a corner!

Also, trying to win the ball back is frustrating at times. But as you can tell, I am a bit of an amateur!
Title: Re: FIFA12
Post by: Mitch on October 02, 2011, 12:17:52 PM
Defending is rightly more difficult, but if you think as a defender you should be fine. Don't dive in, chase the man back from midfield rather than charging Brede fo Senderos out to the player (that'll leave a big gap). You need to really time your tackle. Also, block and run into the opposition player as you would in real life.

Thanks Mitch, good point about the kit, hadn't really thought of it like that..

Does the potential actually make a difference in this game? After FIFA 11 where player growth was non-existent I'm reluctant to believe it until I see it!

I can't really agree with you on Davies, when player's like Micheal Johnson of Leicester are 73. If you compare it to Lakaku (only ever scored goals in a weak Belguim league) or Kakuta (played half a season with us) who are both rated higher then Davies who has played 10 years in the Premiership making in the region of 300 appearances.

He is a superb link up player with better distribution then Duff and Dempsey (our other two winger's with whom he inevitably fights with for a starting spot) who is also a more disciplined option then the other two and has filled in at right back and in the middle on odd occasions.

His intelligence and athletic abilities have been vastly underrated on the game as well!

I'd have to say anyone who watched the u21's at the start of the summer will have seen Gecov was no mug (he played against England, how lazy can these stats guys be?!?).

I hope they would address Hughes, Baird and Grygera being 71 and Senderos being 72 (the same as Anton Ferdinand I think..). I'll stop ranting!

What does your role as a reviewer involve mitch? And how did you get into it? Is it the kind of thing that multiple people participate in or if I asked EA would I be competing with you? (not that I want to turf you out of it as another FoFer!  :Haynes The Maestro: )

GET IN! Danny Murphy header in the 90th minute of the 10th game to win promotion to division 9 on the first go (13pts)!

Ok so it's not exactly as dramatic as the great escape or as exciting as Sunday afternoon but it was pretty sweet (possibly because I was a bit loopy at 1:30am on a Tuesday night having just played 10 straight games taking full advantage of the Missus being out of town on a business trip to maximize my PS3 time).

Was opting for the default 4-4-2 but replacing Duff for Bryan and Sidwell for Dembele in a possession based attack.

A seemingly disproportionate number of opponents using Shalke 04 (at least 5 of the 10 games). As he is not on FFC I havent checked his rating, but Raul appears to be quite good....

Orlando Sa is really doing it for me in career mode, 45 minute hat-trick against Villa in the first game, two against Newcastle in the next.

I also bough a little chap called Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, he is immense only 3.6m too. Very high potential, he starts off as a 70, but has the potential to be 85+ if you play him enough.

You will play more teams like Schalke/Villa etc as they are closer in star rating to Fulham. It's to avoid people who play as Brighton for example having to always play against Real Madrid.

For those who already got the game, I've question about the career mode:

In Fifa 11 players only seemed to develop during roughly the ages of 21-27. That meant it was useless to have a talanted 16 year old or whatever as he wouldn't get better until he was 21 anyway. And players, young and old, never developed unless they got game time, there was no real player growth in that game.

So, do Fifa 12 have the same problems?

I got promoted from the 10th division really quickly after four wins, but then struggled to cope with the better players in division 9, but managed to stave off relegation, however I noticed under my stats there's a figure that says leagues won - How do I win a league if after 12/14 points you automatically get promoted and play no more games in that league?

Agreed that would have been disappointing. Stupid Raul and his goal scoring ways....or possibly my poor defending or more likely the lethal combination...

Also lost points when opponents exited the game resulting in 2 losses despite there being (from my point of view) plenty of time to come back. A surprising number of big babies don't play to the final whistle when losing which is bad enough but then to end up with 2 losses due to the apparent strategy "nick a 2nd half goal with Raul and then exit the game for the win" was frustrating.

Still, i'm not going to lie, much like real football my enthusiasm far exceeds my skill and as an occasional player was happy enough to gain promotion while scoring bucket loads of goals (and conceding slightly less).

I was having a problem fitting all our attacking players in and getting the best out of Dempsey.

Then I found a brilliant system where I got 3 MOTM with Clint and he was lethal going forward and even getting back but this formation does leave you open at the back a bit:

Schwarzer
Grygera, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise
Dempsey, Murphy, Duff
Dembele, Zamora, AJ

Only problem with this is I don't know where to fit Ruiz into it- I'm quite good with the pace of AJ and Dembele either side of Bobby.

Schwarzer

   Baird - Senderos - Hangeland - Hughes

Etuhu

Dempsey - Davies

Ruiz

Johnson - Zamora
this is what I play, I don't know if the defense is right but I'm certain that all the other positions are correct with what I use.

What do you guys think of this ultimate team:

                                     De Sanctis

Nagamoto              Chivu                    Cordoba            Abate

                            Cerci                      Lavezzi

                                      Vagner Love

Need to replace Vagner Love as he's not good for chem at the moment, just trying to raise some dollar.

What's your chem level? I've found anyone with incredible speed is annoying, because they are so hard to catch and with the new system it makes them impossible to stop, poor chem or not.

I like your defence by the way. Nagamoto is a right footed left back isn't he? How much was Hernanes? He's insane! Can you afford to swap Cerci for Cassano and Vagner Love for Iaquinta/Cavani?

I mix the Germans and the Italians depending on who is fit/contracts etc, but luckily the chem never goes lower than 95 when I do this.

My team is a 4-3-1-2, 100% Chem. Line up is-
GK - Weidenfeller (i want Neuer)
RB - Castro/Beck
CB - Mexes/Howedes
CB - Hummels
LB - Aogo/Nagatome
CM - Pirlo / Gotze
CM - Montolivo / Ballack
CM - Giovinco / Gundogan
CF - Cassano/Zidan
ST- Milito/Zarate
ST - Gilardino.

Any suggestions?

At the moment its maxing out at around 89, but I believe that is because I have Vagner Love up top instead of a ST from Serie A - I am trying to save for a Iaquinta or Cavani. Hernanes is unfortunately in a 4222 formation at the moment too.

I think Hernanes cost me around 2K, that was at around 11PM at night as a bidding option. Cheapest buy now I've seen so far is around 4.5k. Hes a goal scoring machine even though he is in a flat middle 3. He was amazing in FIFA11.

As for the wingers, I haven't got enough money to swap with quality replacements just yet, but am saving for that. I do have a Reyes, but he kills chemistry.

Nagatomo has been a really great buy for me, he is insanely quick really good overall stats. Abate, my right back has 91 pace - was only around 6k.

I'd definitely suggest investing in Abate for a Serie A team, Lavezzi too, he is pricy though, 22k + I managed a 59th minute steal on him for around 15k (5* skills, 92 pace, 91 dribbling). There are alot of top CBs for little coins, my Chivu cost me 800, and Cordoba cost me 600 - he has 81 pace.

How much was your Zarate?
Title: Re: FIFA12
Post by: Mitch on October 07, 2011, 12:50:40 PM
Zarate was 4.5k BIN so I snapped him up with the inention of selling on, but I've kept him for now. I got Rossi for 6k and sold him for 11k when it first came out so I did a bit of team building from there in.
Just made my first semi final in the UT Cup online, wish me luck!

They are capping the amount of users aren't they as people as using bots to buy up players and then sell them on for ridiculous money

I managed to get a Zarate for 1500 yesterday in my formation.

Also started to find some quality players to put in rotation for the team. So now I've got 3 spare CMs in Marchisio and Arturo Vidal, I have a replacement winger instead of Cerci/Lavezzi in Krasic.

I have two new strikers now too: Djibril Cisse and Stefan Jovetevic who I rotate every other game. The team is looking good at the moment, only lost once yesterday.

i did the ultimate team thing for a while but most of my mates were jumping the rankings quickly on the head to head seasons thing and i wanted to catch up...haha. Ultimate team is a little frustrating for me as i dont really have the time to go through all the setting up and stuff at the moment, maybe when uni dies down.

Would love a friendsoffulham club though

Deus Ex: Human Revolutions
Gears of War 3
Forza Motorsport 4
Batman: Arkham City

So far I've only had the chance to play Deus Ex because of my house move and, er, holiday to St Lucia.. :yay: But i'll be giving them all a raz over the week so will post thoughts on here soon.

I will add you i am only playing campaign mode because in reviews they said story was bad so i want to see it why, so far i don't see much wrong with it I specially liked the jet fighter mission but i only did about 5 missions in a game so I will see if i still like it after that, but battlefield 3 like COD is mostly an online game and it should be great to play.

agree. really dont see why they bother with single player, think how much better online could be if they dropped single player

Yes they could have put more maps, vehicles, weapons and buildings to destroy in an online mode instead using all that game data to create single player mode, if they want to compete with COD they should have dropped single player and tried something new, like make the best shooter online game as they can. I still think Call of Duty will sell more games because I think more kids will buy those because it is so easy to find your enemy and kill him. In battlefield 2 they didn't have a kill cam telling you where your enemy was that shot you, that is why I liked that game, like in real war you don't know where your enemy is there.

Post by: richie17 on October 31, 2011, 08:15:28 PM
How is everyone getting on?  If I may be so bold, pretty good here.

Five games, five wins.  Highlight was a 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in which Kasami scored four (I think that's his only start too).

In the league we've beaten Newcastle away, QPR at home, Liverpool away.

I did the tactics wizard and tried to set the team up as per real life, taking bits of Hodgson and bits of Jol.  Because there's no pace in the back four we play a deepish defensive line. We don't press because the team's not good at that in real life.  Playing a fluid 4-3-3 (which I think Jol's eventually after) with Etuhu sitting, Sidwell box-to-box and Murphy as a deep lying playmaker. Ruiz and Dempsey are wide as inside forwards and Zamora on his own up front as a target man.  In Europe AJ's been up front but as a poacher.  Briggs has been a wing-back on the left, Grygera a much more defensive right-back.

PM me if you want me to send the tactic.

How long in playing hours did it take for the first season? Just interested because I used to be able to play a season in ten hours, last years version was taking me for ever.

Keeping away from playing as Fulham for the moment, instead going for a classic 'bottom to top' in to form of oxford united.

Got promoted in my first season, winning league 2 and surpassing my expectations, but know I will struggle to do anything other than survive in league one.

Marcello Trotta was a hero for me in league 2, netting 16 goals before getting injured at christmas. Now have Etheridge on loan for the season, although he has been average/poor so far.

In my game, Fulham sold Ruiz after one season for £20m (!!) to Everton and have brought in some excellent players in his place.

Blimey, the Harry Redknapp of FOF.  I've bought two players: one a french forward who has a few of Zamora's traits, currently on loan in Scotland, and Adam Lallana from Southampton who hasn't played yet but who will replace Murphy.

you get to watch the games and it is about the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to football managemetn sims. You can download graphics (Club badges, Stadium backgrounds etc) and the match engine for watching the games is actually pretty good. The only thing i would like to see is real stadiums for the clubs, however i appreciate that is a tall order in terms of the memory that would require. Maybe one day though, i mean, look at how these games have changed inthe last 6-7 years alone, and also, think back to the old days of ZX spectrum management games, still at the time they were also a lot of fun.

I used to play that, Jonno!  My dad was always Crystal Palace, although in those days you got the same players whoever you were.  Kevin Reeves sticks in the mind!

Then you got something called Football Director where the players were fictional but it was a bit richer.

Then Championship Manager changed everything!

I know. It's more about the time away from other pursuits. Plus I know the missus will go mad.... although that isn't necessarily so unappealing. My last game went into 2040. Fulham had a striker come through the academy in my 2nd season that went on to break all records ie 60 goals for England when he retired etc. Single handedly turned the club from what we are now to back to back Champs Lge winners. Could any other game ever top that?!

Same here. I remember older versions of FM when I would feed myself crisps and port rather than go to the supermarket around the corner to buy some decent food or beverage. And nowadays with everyone having a laptop, you can even take your computer to the loo. I think this thread should be deemed illegal and deleted  :005:

I checked out football manager site the game is 30 pounds to download that is around 50 dollars i think. Would this slow my computer down if I downloaded all the data without their CD or is it better to buy a game CD also they made the game for PSP but not for PS3 why not, i would like to play it on PS3 so I don't use all my computer memory and slow my computer down. I think I will buy a laptop and play only games on it there.

Nope, completely free. Most of the graphic packs are made by fans so there is a great online community. Some people make league edits so you can include leagues that originally aren't on the game in place of another e.g J League is regularly edited in in place of Chilean league. Last edition I downloaded an edit file where every player had been released from his club so it was a mad scramble for players. It's worth downloading training schedules too.

Also- Football Manager should be for the PC only! You'll have a much better experience.

You will still have to install all the data anyway if you get the cd so it's worth just downloading straight to your PC. You do it via Steam as well which means you can it on any computer with Steam although you'd have to install it on that computer as well.

Thanks to Mr Moon and Jack Fulham I will download it and try it out the price is fair and I played manager mode on FIFA but it never seemed you are in control they use to have on FIFA a way so you can only watch the game and not play it now you can't do that anymore. I don't know if Football manager has a bench view from videos i have see it doesn't but it would be nice to have it. Like a pov style option view from manager's bench like real manager sees the game that would make a game more real to me.

Got FM12 today!

....not going well. Playing 4-2-3-1. Duff and Dempsey out injured and Ruiz confused as to where the goal is. Out of Europe, and played 4 in the league, 2 losses, one draw and one win.
Title: Football Manager updates?
Post by: Tomo on November 07, 2011, 11:09:31 PM
Just thought i'd make a post where we update how we're coming along on FM 2012, currently I'm 6th position (7 games in) scoring plenty of goals (43 in all competitions) and i'm through to the group stages of the Europa League having just beaten OB 3-2 (close) i'm also drawn against Red Star Belgrade and Villareal (EASY group) also had an unlucky 0-1 loss to Chelsea at home and even Andre Villas Boas said he respected my tactics + I had Somogyi in goal as Schwarzer had a 'stubbed' toe.

I've signed a few players including Ola John from twente, 19 years old so don't have to register, eligable for Europa League and not a bad impact sub. Another player from Twente in Thilo Leugers who is a LM and LB (another youngster) as Briggs has a lower back stress fracture which is 2 months out and John Arne Riise has a habit of Yellow Cards / Minor Injuries. I also signed a youngster in Emre Can from Bayern Munich for 1.1 Million pounds, a future replacement for Sidwell / Etuhu as a defensive midfielder.

Not a bad start and just announced a consortium will replace MAF, hopefully we'll get a big transfer kitty  098.gif

Sounds good! Not started a Fulham game (yet got stuck into my test run game :L) but Emre Can is a good player. In my current game he's at Chelski and worth quite a few million and looks very good. Also at the start of the second season Drenthe was available on a free so I'd try get him if you can..

Beat QPR 5-0 at Loftus Rd, then proceeded to lose Bobby, Brede, Hughes, Senderos, Mousa, Dempsey, Ruiz and Sidwell to injury. 17th in the league one Jan 1st with all those still out, I was sacked. Gutted!

Too many games to even think at the moment!

I've just bought:

Deus Ex: Human Revolutions (hard)
Gears of War 2 (not started yet)
Forza Motorsport 4 (not started yet)
Batman: Arkham City (fecking unreal! Love it!!)
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (arrives on friday)
an XBox Kinect

I don't think I'm going to leave the house for a few months.

raced home at lunch for a quick few games of MW3 in my break. Easily smashes Black Ops out of the water, though the maps seem quite small and quickscoping seems even easier than MW2. Going to wait until xmas for Skyrim, no doubt there'll be quite a few bugs there although they are changing the patch system where they can put fixes in themselves (like when EA do weekly roster updates in FIFA) as well as the normal bigger ones which will take a while of course.

My son is 13 and is desperate to get MW3. But it's rated 18. Any thoughts on this, people who have actually played it? Don't want to be a spoilsport but my son's a nice kid and I don't want him upset, hooked or turning psycho on me - especially as in a few years he's likely to be bigger than me.  :dft002:

I'm sure your son will be fine i'm 19 years old and I can safely say there is not much 'horrific' detail and nothing that could potentially scar him.

Don't know. I've always thought Hangeland to be pretty amazing, so I've never gone out of my way to check. If I notice something within gameplay I look to adjust it, I don't go through stat by stat. That said, defensively he isn't really a jumper like Cordoba/Adebayor. He almost always wins headers on it for me though, so something must be right.

Re-started FM12 last night. You need a lot of leagues running to get even basic players, which is annoying. With a large database I had no players in Le Mans and other normal french teams which is pathetic. Added French, S.African and a few random premier divisions which has improved it a bit. Started by hiring an improved physio team, scouting better and with a 4-3-3 formation rather than 4-2-3-1. Started much better, but still a large number of injuries. Also signed Yaya Sanogo after selling Halliche, Kelly and Riise. Welbeck has come in on loan too, so hopefully i won't end up short for players. Trotta has played two games in Europa qualifying and scored two too, which is a bonus.

As long as he's a kid who realises the difference between gaming and a reality it'll be OK. In recent versions there was an option to turn a certain level/scene off as it was rated too graphic, but that was the only part.

there's one of those for this version as well.

Oh and Mitch there will be DLC for Skyrim, though i'd recommend getting it on the PC as the amount of mods around will be immense.

I hope i'm not breaking any rules or treading on any toes but this thread is perfect for what i need :) (i'm actually basing my assignment on the fifa 12 career mode)

i'm looking around any fifa 12 thread i can find to see if there are any people interested in filling in a questionnaire

it's for my user experience design module at university. The idea is that i collect data (from over 100 people... currently stuck at 26 people =/) and from that i produce a persona of the typical fifa 12 user. If mostly fulham fans fill in the questionnaire then i get to write my persona based on the perspective of a fuham fan. Would love it if you guys gave me some help, it'll only take a few minutes.

https://sites.google.com/site/fifa12uxd/home/live-questionnaire

thanks in advance for those that fill it in.

oh and even if you don't play fifa you can still fill it in, there is questions for none fifa users too. So feel free to pass it around if you like :P

thanks a lot.

I thought I'd resurrect this old thread now that the season's ended. Let me quickly tell you about my latest video game purchase:

It's been a full 11 years since Diablo 2 first appeared (It came out the same time as we hit the Premier League!). That game was a MMOG of legend, and was also the reason that I subscribed to a broadband connection for the very first time. Now, after nearly 5 years of planning and building, the latest version Diablo 3 has hit the shelves.

And it is truly incredible. I've only managed about an hour's worth of game play since it's release yesterday, but what I've seen is simply breathtaking. If you were a fan of the previous incarnations, go and buy it now. If you were a fan of 'Gauntlet' from yesteryear, do the same.

If you're not a fan, just buy it anyway!

Never played Diablo, perhaps its one I should look at.

I do have all the CoD games, and they are excellent - apart from Black Ops, thrash compared to the others - MW3 still the best. PS3 network for CoD doesn't have a monthly fee as far as I have experienced.

mate you need to try the battlefield series. newest being battlefield 3. i was once like you a cod man all over, but once you have played the battlefield you will wonder why cod is even a word you know. the biggest map in cod would probably just fill a runway for a jet to take off. plus countless more reasons to love the bf are tanks jets and sea vehicles. plus countless land vehicles and a damn sight better fps game

Gave up. Got fed up with the players who cheated at the start destroying me. I now play for fun with Fulham in H2H mode online. Just knocking about the lower leagues. If I can't backheel it in, I don't want to score it. Keeps me entertained!

I Have been playing a fair bit of fifa recently and on UT I have the full fulham team, inform dempsey, ruiz, pog and johnson. Yet to be able to afford team of the year dembele and dempsey! Also got the cod games, think they are all decent enough to pass a rainy afternoon with no football.

I just sold my 352 Italian team, didn't like the formation one bit.... but you might!

Not sure if anyone's seen but this website apparently has the potential ratings for all players on FIFA 13.

http://www.chuzzz.com/UT13/ (http://www.chuzzz.com/UT13/)

Petric is currently 78 but that could go up if he keeps scoring.
Hangeland is our best Player at 82 and Dempsey on 81.
Ruiz / Schwarz = 80
Dembele = 79
Diarra = 77 (harsh)

other mentions:
Riether = 74
Rod = 74 (pace only 77)
Frei = 69 (pace 86)
Kaca = 63 (pace 76 and picture doesn't much look like him....)

Once it's out, if you've got an xbox and want some easy wins, add me on live - DrMichaelBergen

As usual they'll all be underrated due to playing for Fulham.

Petric was 81 last year- bumped down because he plays for us. At least Ruiz has a good rating.

Frei and Kaca below 70? Oh please.

batlefield is a better game by far for online play.  also if anyone has a ps3 i can highly getting the playstation plus subscription. only 15 quid for 3 months but there are some great games you can down load for free once you have it. games on there at the moment are ones like saints row the second, dead space 2, infamous 2 darksiders plus many more. cant recommmend it enough

i hated world at war. cod 4 is by far the best as it is the only one you can get actual cover in. nothing worse than being crouched behind a 10 inch thick metal object and getting shot through it with a little pistol. plus the new cod has the smallest maps ever seen in a game.

I loved COD:MW2 but found the most recent one crap, no strategy required. Just run and shoot. I've not played Battelfield but it sounds more my kind of thing, I know guys that rave about it. Unfortunately the internet speed at my place is shite so I can't really play online gaming. I should be getting this fixed in the next couple of months though

But having recently played through Gears of War 3, Mass Effect 3 and the new 2012 Olympics game, I guess I'm entitled to my opinion.

I've sorted Fulham out on FIFA 12 to be what I'd deem to be realistic, with perhaps a slight bias I guess.
Players I've changed...
Frei = 73 Overall
Kacaniklic = 76 Overall
Dembele = 80 Overall
Also created Diarra (This is where I went a bit OTT I think) = 84 Overall.

Also adjusted Dembele to a CM rather than ST.

Also bought in all of our newer signings and shipped out the dead wood to their relevant new teams.

Battlefield is too complicated for the average COD player. What's not to like about big maps, vehicles and guns? The problem with video games is that it's hard to get an honest opinion on games due to the overwhelming number of fanboys. COD4 was really good, probably the best console online shooter for its time.

Unreal Tournament on PC, now there's a shooter.

it wasnt that it was complicated. I was doing well on it. I just prefer running around with a riot shield and a magnum as my second weapon! But really for me the levels are better and so are the graphics. MW3 has been pants, granted. But black ops and world at war are just amazing and addictive

Ive never been one to care about my kill death ratio (i hope people on here are the same, as its sad that some people litrally care only for that than the game itself)

all games reward you. Battelfield rewards you the higher up you go. Its just personal taste. I bet the millions of people playing cod each day would argue against battlefield. Thats the best thing about today, so many games to choose from that everyone is pleased

Is that another war-based first person shooter? It's like nobody knows how to make a good game anymore with all of these shooters about. Whatever happened to a good hack 'n' Slash or platform game?

I still think that Red Dead Redemption is the greatest game ever made though.

This takes me back to when I was 13-14 year old. Pretty much played the game from the minute I got home from school to when I went back to school the next day. You'd be surprised just how dedicated the football manager researchers are. If they're a decent player on fm, they're not far from it in real life (unless they play for newcastle or southampon as their researchers simply manipulate players to be outstanding in the game).

Not saying it's flawless of course, but I can think of worse ways to find out the abilities of a player

It's true, they have their own scouting team who research players and they have links with actual club scouts too over Europe. It's not obviously 100% accurate but its not unusual for young players to develop to great players in the game and for the same to happen in real life. Of course it's not a hard fast rule but Kasami develops into an amazing player in FM after a few seasons so fingers crossed ;)

A player might have a good season while the game is being made, doesn't mean he will be good any of the following years. Not saying they don't research the players, I do understand how it works,

Not scouting team, but head and assistant researchers (for which I am Fulham's) who have a bucket load of data to get through. Obviously there is an individuals opinion but nothing goes a miss with the amount of us about to watch all levels of the game and all players within it.

Sorry by scouting team I was getting at 'researchers' but scouting team sounded cooler haha

Sounds like a great (but hard) job. do you have links with club scouts?

what do you think of the battle between Fifa and PES?
I prefer Fifa,it's more realistic while PES seems to much an arcade game.

Oh the days when PES was the realistic one and FIFA the not-so-realistic one. PES dominated the football scene up to PES 6, which is probably the best ever football game.

/end

This takes me back to when I was 13-14 year old. Pretty much played the game from the minute I got home from school to when I went back to school the next day. Seems so sad now, but it was just incredible. Probably the best game I've ever played. Still would love to play now if I could find the time.

so good wasnt it. all the kids going on about COD nowadays, they dont know what they are on about.

well counterstrike is out today for xbox on xbox live for 1200 points. i cant wait.gonna be crap at it as im not good at FPS's on consoles

PES 4 for me. But I can't get into FIFA, there just seems way too much to do to be good at it, and PES has been crap for years. So no football games for me anymore, which is a shame as it was all I played for years

PES 3 and 4 were big for me, great games. Used to play the first ones when they were called like ISO or some weird thing like that, struggle to find time to bother now.

er actually mate, the original call of duty smashes half life out of the way. That game is in the league of goldeneye etc. So when you say kids with cod these days.....remember half life only came out pretty much 2 years before and didnt really take off (globally) till it hit the xbox in 2003 (the same year as cod and was blown out of the water)

Call of Duty 1 is Call of Duty 1. Call of Duty Modern Warfare episode 666 is crap. They are completely different games.

Has anyone accomplished a top flight title/cup run with a majority of the players consisting of academy/ national players?   Ie. Fulham with 9-10 English players first team.

had access to the beta for some time now and it's taken me a season to get to grips with the tactics and decided that it's all pretty much screwed if you dont play with a DM. 2nd season going reasonably well, mid table and in the league cup semi's. Riether and Dejagah really are amazy down the right.

Ive always played with a dm, its been part of my tactics since 07, but i can see the Dajagah/Reither working well.
